HURRICANE DAMAGE:
If they have insurance, call them: flood (if rising water from below damage) or homeowners ins if wind damage or both. If no insurance or for major losses contact FEMA and put in an application for FEMA assistance. https://www.fema.gov/assistance/individual.
βοΈβοΈTake pictures and video of everything! Document everything before you throw anything out or remove it. Document every step. If using a water mitigation company, make sure they are documenting everything. Open up your window for drying if you are on your own with professional help yet. Pull off baseboards to help with drying walls. Remove carpet and pads from the house ASAP, but Document 1st, during and after. You are required to take mitigation steps if possible while waiting for an adjuster. π§π
