I'm so very grateful to Authority Magazine, Yitzi Weiner, and Fotis Georgiadis for interviewing me for this feature on "Rising Through Resilience"! This interview was a very personal one. I talked about growing up during the fall of the Soviet Union as a foster care kid, winning a scholarship to study in the United States, the real reason behind going into the domestic violence prevention field, times when fostering resilience literary saved my life, the conception of the Resilience Wheel, and 5 essential things we can do to become more resilient, purposeful, and happy. ✅It's a feeling of self-appreciation, self-kindness, and self-acceptance that grows over time as a result of our ongoing loving actions that support our health, wellness, and personal growth.

✅It’s really difficult to practice self-love but it’s an integral part of our wellbeing and figuring out which self-love practices work for us is incredibly important.

👉10 things we could do to practice self-love:

1. make a list of your positive qualities
2. make a list of your accomplishments
3. establish good boundaries
4. reach out to a friend
5. pursue personal healing

🚫Myth 1: Self-care is for emergencies only.
✅Fact: Self-Care is an intentional ongoing lifestyle, which allows us to feel, be, live at our best.

🚫Myth 2: Self-Care is for those who can afford it, an extra, a luxury, and a treat.
✅Fact: "Treat Yourself" practices-like massages and shopping sprees are great but they are something extra, momentary fix, not self-care. Self-care is not something extra, it is an essential core life component.

🚫Myth 3: Some people are naturally really great at self-care and it’s easy for them and others are not.
✅Fact: There are no natural born "self-carers". Self-care is a struggle and an effort for all.
