AI-resistant assessment in higher education is not about policing students. It is about designing better learning. As generative and agentic AI tools become more capable, higher education must rethink how learning is measured. Traditional assignments such as papers, essays, quizzes, and discussion posts are increasingly vulnerable to automation.
This is not a future problem. It is a present one. That is why I am focusing on the design of AI-resistant assessments—learning experiences that require students to apply knowledge, explain reasoning, reflect on process, and demonstrate skills in authentic ways. These approaches not only support academic integrity, but also strengthen real-world job readiness.
My work centers on building assessment strategies that emphasize theory, practice, and active learning while making student thinking more visible.
I look forward to sharing more at the NISOD Conference in Austin this May, and through an upcoming YouTube training series on creating AI-resistant assessments that also build workforce-relevant skills.
