Country music icon Dolly Parton owned Willow Lake Plantation, a private 63-acre estate tucked away in Brentwood, Tennessee. Shielded from public view behind gates and surrounded by expansive grounds, the property served as a peaceful retreat for Parton and evolved over time as she continued making additions to the estate. Among those plans was approval for a fourth barn designed to complement the existing buildings on the property.

Parton’s path to success began far from the luxury of Willow Lake. Born in Sevier County, Tennessee, she grew up in a large family with very little money before leaving for Nashville immediately after graduating high school in 1964. She went on to become one of country music’s most recognizable and accomplished performers, setting records for female country artists and building a catalog filled with classics such as Jolene, Coat of Many Colors, and her Kenny Rogers duet Islands in the Stream.

Her career ultimately stretched well beyond country music. Parton found success as an actress, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, building an estimated fortune of more than $500 million while supporting numerous charitable causes. Willow Lake Plantation stands as a striking contrast to the modest East Tennessee upbringing that shaped her, reflecting just how far her decades-long career carried her.

After more than 25 years in the family, Ryanair cofounder Dr. Tony Ryan’s historic Kentucky horse farm is coming to market for $57.5 million. Spanning 951 acres in Lexington, the estate referred to as Castleton, dates to 1793 and has played a role in more than two centuries of American horse racing, with a legacy that stretches from 1896 Kentucky Derby winner Ben Brush to three-time Eclipse Award winner Gio Ponti. The estate includes an 1840 Greek Revival mansion spanning roughly 13,500 square feet, nine additional residences, 16 barns with 268 stalls, and extensive breeding and training facilities.
