‼️Six months‼️

It is almost impossible to write those words.

Today marks six months since my beautiful friend Amy Hillyard disappeared. Six months without answers. Six months of searching, praying, following leads, sharing her face, and waking up each morning hoping that today will be the day we find her.

And still, we have no answers.

The private investigators working with Amy’s family have called this one of the most perplexing missing persons cases they have ever encountered. The search continues, now using sophisticated drone technology to look in places and in ways we haven’t been able to before.

But nothing has been found.

I cannot begin to describe what these six months have been like for Chris, their daughters, Allie, Amy’s family, and everyone who loves her. There is no moving on when someone you love is simply…missing. There is only the enormous space where she should be.

Chris has recorded this new message at the six-month mark. Please watch it. Please share it. Please help us keep Amy’s face and story alive.

Someone may know something. Someone may remember seeing something that they didn’t think mattered at the time. One piece of information could change everything.
Six months have passed, but our hope has not.

We are still searching.
We are still praying.
We are still holding onto hope.

This summer, I learned a little more about what it means to be part of the sandwich generation. ☀️

To be somewhere in the middle, looking back with enormous gratitude and admiration for the people who came before us, while still pushing forward, building, creating and championing the things we believe can make the future better.

And, fittingly, there were plenty of actual sandwiches along the way. And biscuits in ice cream. And blue food. And some very good w**e. 😉

It was a beautiful summer filled with friendship, laughter, gardens, Shakespeare, books, food and work I deeply believe in.

But the greatest lesson came from my 80-year-old uncle, who showed me what courage and grace look like when he closed the door on his Los Angeles home of 46 years and began an entirely new chapter in Reno.

Watching him lock that door for the last time also closed a much bigger chapter: after nearly 100 years of our family calling that part of Los Angeles home, an era ended.

There was sadness in it, certainly. But there was also something incredibly hopeful about watching someone at 80 decide that life can still hold a new beginning.

Maybe that is what being in the middle is really about. Holding what came before with tenderness, while continuing to make room for what comes next.

Today, People Magazine Magazine shared a beautiful and deeply moving story about Amy in honor of her birthday.

More than anything, it gives voice to the person who has carried so much over these past months-Chris.
Every interview he has given has come from one place: love.❤️

While living through every family’s worst nightmare, Chris continues to do the impossible. He is raising two remarkable daughters, keeping their businesses moving forward, leading the search for Amy, and somehow finding the strength to tell her story again and again in the hope that someone, somewhere, will have the piece of information that brings her home.

His voice has become one of quiet determination. It is not about headlines. It is about making sure the world never forgets Amy.

Ninety-one days of missed mornings, missed birthdays, missed holidays, missed milestones, missed ordinary moments that now feel anything but ordinary. Ninety-one days without her daughters, her husband, her sister, her friends, and the community that loves her so deeply knowing where she is.

The passing of time does not lessen the urgency. It deepens it.

Amy’s family has now brought on a new investigative team, and they are asking all of us to continue helping in every way we can by sharing Amy’s story, staying alert, following updates, and reaching out if you have any information that may matter. The reward for information leading to her being found of $25k is still in place.

Pure Exhaustion. Pure Exhilaration.

As this week comes to a close, that’s exactly how I feel.

After an incredible month on the road, I’ve had the privilege of screening for high school students studying everything from environmental science to filmmaking. Young people asking thoughtful questions about food systems, storytelling, and the impact content can have on shaping the future.

The journey continued Culinary Institute of America , where the integration of blue foods into the future of food conversation continues to gain momentum. It’s especially meaningful because this work didn’t begin last week. It traces back nearly 15 years to conversations at CIA Greystone with ( 🙏 ), the leadership and vision of Shara Orem, Greg Drescher, Patricia Coleman and the entire team who have helped move these ideas forward.

And if I zoom out even further, my blue food journey spans more than two decades. From the earliest days of the Verlasso program with Scott Nichols, Allyson Fish, Renee Henze, and Alexa Girardi Raab, to every collaboration, every challenge, every lesson learned along the way-each step has led to this moment.

What has become increasingly clear is that meaningful change is never built alone. It is fueled by people who generously share their time, their expertise, their platforms, and their belief in a bigger vision.

So today, I find myself feeling both completely exhausted and completely exhilarated.

Many of you know this feeling. It’s what happens when you pour your heart and soul into a mission, a cause, or a purpose you believe is worth fighting for.

I hope this weekend brings you the rest, recovery, and reflection that fuels the next chapter of your journey.

It is hard to comprehend that nearly sixty days have passed since Amy disappeared. Two months of searching. Two months of heartbreak, uncertainty, hope, exhaustion, prayer and love.

To mark this painful milestone, a “Bring Amy Home: A Vigil of Hope & Awareness Honoring Amy and all Missing Persons in Oakland” will take place on Monday, May 25th from 7:00–8:00 PM at Mandana Plaza Park, 600 Mandana Boulevard, Oakland.

This evening will be a space for connection, reflection, gratitude, and community as we continue the work of bringing Amy home. We will gather to honor Amy, support her family and one another, and recognize the extraordinary care and effort that so many people have poured into this search.

It is also a moment to hold in our hearts not only Amy, but all missing persons and the families who continue to live with the unimaginable pain of not knowing. The passing of time does not lessen the love. It does not lessen the urgency. And it does not lessen our determination to bring Amy home.

‼️Mother’s Day‼️Seven Weeks and counting‼️

Today, while we many of us are celebrating mothers, hugging them, calling them, gathering around tables and making memories, Amy’s family continues to search for her.

There are no new updates today. Only the unimaginable reality that it has now been more than seven weeks since Amy disappeared.

Amy is an extraordinary mother. The love she has for her daughters is woven into every part of who she is. She loves them with fierce devotion, tenderness, wisdom, and care. Anyone who knows Amy knows that being a mother was one of the great joys of her life. It is impossible to comprehend that her girls are spending Mother’s Day without her.

And still, every single day, her family wakes up hoping that today will be the day Amy is found and brought home.

Please continue to share her story. Please continue to keep this family in your thoughts and prayers. And please do not let the passing of time quiet the urgency to find her.

I’ve been thinking about Amy - not just as the woman we are all searching for, but as someone stood by in my life with belief, clarity, and a deep sense of purpose.

Amy was a true champion of the work I’ve dedicated my life to from blue foods to ocean health, from by to the work at . She understood, in a way that few people do, how vital our oceans are not just for the 🌎, but for all of us.

She brought intention, intelligence, and heart into everything she touched. Even as she feels deeply concerned about where our world is headed, especially with climate change, she didn’t retreat - she leaned in.

She worked. She supported. She helped build something meaningful. Her impact on our work and on me was profound. And now, we feel the absence of that presence so deeply.

We miss her. We miss her voice, her perspective, her care.

We want her home for her family, for her friends, and for the community she gave so much to. But we also want her home so that we can care for her the way she has cared for all of the things she touches.

‼️ FIVE WEEKS‼️💔 💔💔‼️

We have now passed the five week mark in our search for Amy, and the weight of each day is something words can hardly capture.

The REWARD has now been increased to $25,000 for information that leads to her being found.

It’s impossible not to reflect on these past weeks and stand in awe of Chris, their daughters, and the entire community. Those who have shown up day after day to search, to support, and to refuse to give up. We are equally grateful to law enforcement for continuing to track down every lead, every possibility, every clue.

As Amy’s daughter so poignantly said, each day feels like Groundhog Day. We wake up with resolve, with hope that today will be the day she is found… only to end the day without her being brought home.

And still we keep going. We have to keep going.

Please continue to share Amy’s story. Continue to keep her in your prayers. And PLEASE stay alert. Someone, somewhere, has a piece of information that could make the difference.
