Willamette Valley Chamber for Commerce Please note: The Salem Keizer Business Alliance has returned to our original name,
The Willamette Valley Chamber for Commerce.

The WVCC represents a diverse group of entrepreneurs and professionals dedicated to the prosperity of our communities. I have been in business since 1980, starting in the gem and jewelry industry and, although I still sell gems, most of my time is devoted to working with the Salem/Keizer Business Alliance and ShowBiz Salem. In 1987, I bought a branch of a local barter company in Portland and in 1

990, I became the area director for a national barter company. While working in the barter industry, I learned quite a bit about various types of businesses. This knowledge of business comes in very handy when helping other businesses become more successful, which is one of the goals of the Salem-Keizer Business Alliance and ShowBiz Salem. Our other goals are to:
Promote business
Build relationships
Bring awareness and support local non-profits

Quick poll for business owners:

What did you spend most of your week doing?

A) Working ON your business

B) Working IN your business

C) Putting out fires you didn't start 😭

D) Honestly? I have no idea where the week went.

No judgment.

I'm just curious.

Your business shouldn't depend on your anxiety to function.

It's Friday night.

And somewhere there's a business owner sitting on the couch trying to relax while mentally running through:
the leads,
the follow-ups,
the invoices,
the content,
the emails,
and the twelve things they forgot to do this week. I see you Nate...

That's what happens when everything lives in your head.

The business closes for the weekend.

Your brain doesn't.

At some point the solution isn't working harder.

It's building systems that keep things moving even when you're not thinking about them.

A shocking amount of businesses are being held together by:
screenshots
memory
sticky notes
and “I’ll remember to do that later.” 😭

Then people wonder why growth starts feeling exhausting.

Because eventually the business outgrows survival-mode operations.

At some point:
the problem stops being motivation…

and starts being infrastructure.

One of my clients hired a VA for like $8/hour to build her website, funnels, automations, and backend systems because it felt cheaper upfront.

And honestly?
At first it probably did save money.

Then suddenly:
half the automations worked-half didn’t
things weren’t connected properly
nothing was documented
tasks started getting dropped
and nobody really knew how the backend was actually functioning anymore. 😭

So now she’s paying ME to come in and rebuild the systems correctly anyway.

And honestly this happens constantly in business.

People will spend $3,000 fixing a mess before they’ll spend $1,500 building it properly the first time.

You get what you pay for...half ass investment-sh*t results

Your growth infrastructure should be something you invest in, something that can scale.

Do it right the fist time..

I use systems because my brain matters more somewhere else.

I use tools that:

- follow up with leads
- nurture conversations
- send emails
- deliver PDFs and videos
- monitor reviews
- track visibility
- organize pipelines
- automate repetitive admin work

Not because I’m lazy.

Because I’d rather use my actual brainpower building strategy, solving problems, creating systems, and helping clients grow.

And honestly?

I’d also rather:
go to the dog park,
pick my son up on a hard day,
deep clean my house,
hit the gym,
or spend time with people I love…

instead of manually babysitting tasks software can handle better anyway. 😭

That’s the whole point of systems.

Your business should not require you to manually hold every moving piece together forever.

If your business is starting to feel heavier than it should…
that’s usually the moment infrastructure matters.

Message me if you’re ready to build systems that actually support your growth instead of creating more chaos.
