🎉 SOLD! Congratulations to our client on the successful sale of their FedEx Ground route operation right here in Southwest Virginia!

This was a well-run business, 13 routes, 18 trucks, and an experienced team of drivers and managers already in place, which made for a smooth transition to the new owner. It's always a great feeling to see hard work and years of building a solid operation pay off with the right buyer stepping in to carry it forward.

Congrats again, and best of luck to the new owner as you get started.

If you've ever thought about buying or selling a business, we'd love to help you navigate the process.

How buyers and lenders look at a business
The decisions you can make now that may create more options later

If you work closely with business owners, you probably hear some of them mention retirement or selling years before they're ready to do anything about it.

Those early conversations can be incredibly valuable.

Mike and I are hosting a free, 45-minute workshop for CPAs, Wealth Advisors, Attorneys, Lenders, Real Estate Professionals, Exit Planners, and other advisors who work with business owners.

We’ll talk about some of the signs that a business may not be ready to transfer, what owners can start working on now, and how all of us can help them start preparing while they still have plenty of options.

Workshop: Help Your Clients Build a Transferable Business
Thursday, September 10
3:00 PM EST
Private Zoom event

If this is something that comes up with your clients, we'd love to have you join us.

LEAD Virginia alumni and current class members gathered for two days of connection, conversation, and learning in Williamsburg, Virginia.

The retreat kicked off with a wonderful Conversations with Leaders event featuring Dr. John Thomas and a discussion of his book, A Virginia Odyssey, moderated by Melissa Maybury Lubin, PhD ’15.

Attendees heard from President James Madison about leadership, public service, and the responsibilities that come with guiding others.

Reviving a tradition from LEAD Virginia’s early opening sessions, the retreat welcomed leaders connected to the current administration to discuss what is happening across the Commonwealth. Alumni Traci J. Deshazor ’21, Secretary of Administration, and Lauryn Walker ’23, Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services, joined Kristen Dahlman, Deputy Secretary of Commerce and Trade, for a panel moderated by Mallory Tuttle ’25.

Ed Johnson, Jr. of Crafted Coach also led a “Building Cross-Class Connections” session, giving participants from different class years the opportunity to get to know one another and strengthen relationships across the Lead Virginia network.

Attendees were even escorted by the Colonial Williamsburg Fife and Drum Corps to the Williamsburg Inn for dinner.

This year’s service project supported Avalon Center through a school supply drive, and attendees showed their generosity through an incredible number of donations.

Not every seller communicates the same way.

Jeannie Keen talks about why understanding a seller's personality and communication style matters just as much as the numbers — and how some sellers need more guidance and reassurance throughout the process.

06/24/2026

There's more to selling a business than just numbers.

Jeannie Keen breaks down what business brokers actually look at when helping an owner sell — and why the numbers are just the starting point.

Our own Jeannie Keen was recently featured on the Business Broker Growth Show with Jason Cutter!

She sat down with Jason for a candid conversation covering everything from knowing when to walk away, to why emotional intelligence matters more than most people realize, and how the relationships you build today are the foundation of long term success.

It's a great watch no matter where you are in your business journey.
