Google isn't the only search engine anymore.

People are asking ChatGPT.
They're asking Claude.
They're asking Gemini.

And AI isn't giving them ten blue links to click through.

It's giving them an answer.

Welcome to the era of zero-click search.

The businesses that win won't necessarily be the ones ranking #1.

They'll be the ones AI trusts enough to mention.

That means creating content that is:

✔ Clear
✔ Helpful
✔ Specific
✔ Consistent
✔ Based on real expertise

The goal is changing.

From:

"How do I get more clicks?"

To:

"How do I become the answer?"

Because when AI summarizes an industry...

Recommends a service...
Explains a problem...
Or compares options...

Some brands get mentioned.
Most don't.

The next battle for attention isn't just search rankings.

It's whether your business becomes part of the answer AI gives your future customers.

Want to know what Facebook actually rewards?

Not perfect graphics.
Not polished branding.
Not posting every day.

Facebook rewards signals.

The biggest ones?

✔ Comments
✔ Shares
✔ Saves
✔ Meaningful conversations

Because those actions tell Facebook:

"People found this useful."

That's why educational content often outperforms promotional content.

That's why recognition posts get shared.

That's why controversial opinions spark discussion.

That's why helpful tips get saved.

The question isn't:

"What should I post?"

The question is:

"What would make someone stop scrolling and send this to a friend?"

Because every share tells Facebook:

Show this to more people.

Every comment extends the life of a post.

Every save signals future value.

Attention gets reach.
Value gets shares.
Shares get distribution.

The fastest way to kill a social media post?

Answer the question in the first sentence.

Curiosity creates clicks.

Clicks create attention.

Attention creates opportunities.

That's why headlines matter.

Instead of:

"We offer website design."

Try:

"Your website might be costing you customers."

Instead of:

"Here are our social media services."

Try:

"Nobody clicks because you're professional."

People don't stop scrolling because they care about your business.

They stop scrolling because something made them curious.

Curiosity isn't clickbait.

It's an invitation.

And the businesses that understand the difference usually get the attention.

Your website might be working.

That doesn't mean it's helping....

A lot of business websites are basically expensive digital business cards.

They exist.
They look nice.
They have your phone number.

But they aren't answering questions.

They aren't building trust.
They aren't capturing leads.
They aren't moving people toward a decision.

The hard truth?

Most business owners haven't looked at their website through a customer's eyes in years.

If a stranger landed on your homepage right now, would they immediately know:

What you do?
Who you help?
Why you're different?
What to do next?

If not, your website isn't a marketing tool.

It's a brochure.

The most expensive employee in your business just might be you.

Not because you're doing a bad job.

Because your business only works if you're there. Because you're constantly working in your business, not ON it.

You remember the follow-ups.
You remember the next steps.
You remember what needs to happen.

That's not a business.
That's a dependency.

Could your business survive you taking 2 weeks off?

Systems create freedom.

Okay, I have to admit... this made me smile.

A local publisher, asking for feedback and interest in creating a local paper, put together this mock front page featuring Business Boldly. While it's not a real newspaper feature yet, I absolutely love the concept.

Maybe it's because I'm a marketing nerd.
Maybe it's because I genuinely believe local businesses deserve more recognition.
Or maybe it's because after years of helping other businesses tell their stories, it's kind of fun to see my own business on the front page for once.

One thing I've always loved about local newspapers, magazines, and community publications is that they shine a spotlight on the people building things behind the scenes. The business owners taking risks. The families creating jobs. The entrepreneurs figuring it out one day at a time.

In a world of algorithms, reels, and disappearing content, there's something really cool about seeing a business story featured in a format that feels permanent.

So thank you for creating this. It was unexpected, creative, and honestly pretty darn cool.

And yes... I'm absolutely keeping a copy. 😎🐝

Did you s**t your pants this morning?

Be honest.

Facebook went down.

Instagram went down.

Ads Manager had issues.

Messenger had issues.

And for a few hours, a whole lot of business owners were refreshing their phones wondering where their leads went. Meta acknowledged widespread disruptions across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, and business tools today. Reports topped tens of thousands of affected users globally.

Here's the uncomfortable truth:

If Facebook going down for a few hours causes panic...

You don't have a marketing problem.

You have a dependency problem.

Your business should never rely on a single platform.

Because you don't own Facebook.

You don't own Instagram.

You don't own TikTok.

You don't own your followers.

You don't own your reach.

You don't own the algorithm.

What do you own?

✔ Your website

✔ Your email list

✔ Your customer database

✔ Your Google Business Profile

✔ Your SEO

✔ Your reputation

✔ Your referral network

✔ Your community

Smart businesses diversify.

They build visibility in multiple places.

They collect emails.

They invest in SEO.

They strengthen Google.

They create referral systems.

They build partnerships.

They show up online AND offline.

Because platforms will always change.

Algorithms will always change.

Outages will always happen.

The businesses that survive aren't the ones with the biggest following.

They're the ones that built infrastructure instead of dependence.

So...

If Facebook disappeared tomorrow...

Would your business still grow?

Most businesses don't have a visibility problem or awareness problem.

They have a curiosity problem.

People don't buy because you posted something about your services.

People buy because something made them curious enough to pay attention.

Curious enough to click.

Curious enough to visit your website.

Curious enough to send a message.

Curious enough to remember your name later.

The problem is most business content answers questions nobody was asking. Or cared about.

"We offer quality service."

"We've been in business 15 years."

"We care about our customers."

Cool.

So does everyone else.

Instead, start creating content that opens loops.

Show the mistake.

Show the bottleneck.

Show the before and after.

Show the thing nobody talks about.

Make people think:

"Wait... what?"

Because attention isn't earned by saying more.

It's earned by making people want to know more. By making them desire your product, your solution, by helping them realize how you can change their life.

Curiosity gets the click.

Trust gets the sale.
