At 7:21 pm, Engine 511, Brush 513, Rescue 510 and four volunteers responded to the 2700 Block of Lee Road 175 on a report of a grass fire. At arrival crew found a large grass fire burning Northwest side of the road.
The fire was determined to be a Permitted Controlled Burn.

This is a good REMINDER that when doing Controlled Burns, please call the Lee County Sheriff's Non-Emergency Line, (334) 749-5651, and let them know your burning and leave a contract phone number in case we need to contact you.

Today, Engine 511, Engine 521 and Tanker 512 received their annual Water Pump Testing at Smiths Station Fire Protection District.

These tests are done under extreme conditions to ensure our apparatuses will perform and reduce the risk of failures at Fire Incidents.

All apparatuses passed and are ready for another year of serving our community.

At 11:21am, Engine 511 and two Volunteers responded to the 1000-1200 Block of Lee Road 158 on the report of Power Wires down with a ground fire.

At arrival our Volunteers discovered a tree had fallen on power wires, causing multiple wire breaks, southeast of the tree fall for 0.2 mile. TREC Power Company was notified and responded to the scene.

The Fire self extinguished and at 12:31, TREC arrived on scene and released our Volunteers.

At 11:24am, Tanker 512 and one Volunteer responded to a Mutual Aid Call from the Beulah Fire Department in the 1500 Block of Lee Road 266 for a reported structure fire.

At arrival, Tanker 512 provided 2000 gallons of water while BVFD fought the fire. Tanker 512 was released from the scene at 1pm.

This is another example of how partner agencies work together to make our communities safer!

BE WEATHER AWARE:

Today, Governor Kay Ivey declared a state of Emergency in 40 Alabama Counties, including Lee. At this point, it appears the Hurricane will pass to the west of our County, but might cause high winds and rains in our area beginning Friday thru Saturday.
