Bed Bug or Bat Bug?

Found this little guy while working around a non-active bat roost today (they got their eviction notice) At first glance, bat bugs look almost identical to bed bugs, but they’re typically associated with bats and can wander into living spaces when their host is nearby or leaves the structure.

Wildlife problems don’t always stop with the animal itself, sometimes they bring a few extra surprises with them. 🦇

The flannel is on, so you know what that means… seal it. 🐭

Okay, mouse control isn’t quite this simple, but exclusion is a HUGE part of keeping mice out.

Gap around a pipe? Seal it.
Gap under a door? Door sweep.
Gap in the foundation? Seal it.

Trapping mice is only part of the job. Finding how they’re getting in and fixing those entry points is what helps keep them out.

And if you don’t want to seal it yourself… call the Five-0.

A little longer video, but please watch until the end.

I wanted to talk about bat exclusions, secondary entry points, and why simply putting a one-way device on the obvious exit may not solve the entire problem.

Also, something I forgot to mention in the video: if you or someone in your home has had direct contact with a bat, please contact a medical professional or your local health department for guidance.

If you’re unsure about what you’re seeing around your home, feel free to send me pictures. I’m happy to help point you in the right direction, even if you don’t end up hiring us.

⚠️ WILDLIFE ALERT FOR KANSAS ⚠️

Kansas health officials have issued a rabies-related health alert following an increase in reports involving sick wildlife encounters across the state.

This is a good reminder that while most wildlife you encounter is perfectly healthy, any animal acting unusually should be treated with caution.

🦝 Raccoons
🦨 Skunks
🦇 Bats
🦊 Foxes
🐾 And other wild animals can potentially carry rabies.

A few things to keep in mind:

• Never handle sick, injured, or strangely behaving wildlife with your bare hands.
• Keep children and pets away from wild animals.
• Make sure pets are current on rabies vaccinations.
• If you or a pet may have been bitten, scratched, or exposed, contact a medical or veterinary professional.
• If wildlife gets into your home or business, don’t take unnecessary chances trying to remove it yourself.

🐭 THE COOLER WEATHER IS FINALLY… slowly… headed our way.

And while most of us are ready for hoodies, bonfires, and not sweating the second we walk outside…

The mice are making other plans.

They’re looking for three things:

🏠 Shelter
🍕 Food
🔥 Warmth

And unfortunately, your house checks all three boxes.

Now is the perfect time to get ahead of mice before they start moving indoors, setting up shop in the garage, attic, basement, or walls.

If you’ve noticed droppings, scratching noises, chewed-up items, or one little guy sprint across the floor like he pays rent… give us a call.

We can inspect the home, find where they’re getting in, and help keep them outside where they belong.

📞 Give Pest Five-0 a call before the mice decide your house is their winter Airbnb, and this Airbnb won’t be very profitable, they’re terrible tenants.
