The 2nd quarter 2026 Employment Cost Index (ECI) for construction shows a 3.5% actual change in wages and salaries (only base pay ) for the past 12 months. The 12 month change in wages and salaries for all private industry workers was 3.1% during the same period. Just a reminder that individual employee pay increases tend to run higher than the ECI.

The 1st quarter 2026 Employment Cost Index (ECI) for construction shows a 3.1% actual change in wages and salaries (only base pay ) for the past 12 months. Quite a change from the 4th quarter 2025.

The 12 month change in wages and salaries for all private industry workers was 3.4% during the same period.
