Happy National Dessert Day!

Behind every delicious slice of peach cobbler, homemade pie, or sweet treat is a farmer who helps make it possible!

Here in South Carolina, our farmers grow the peaches, strawberries, blueberries, and other ingredients that bring some of our favorite desserts to life.

South Carolina is proud of its peach-growing tradition, and today is a sweet reminder that agriculture is part of so much more than what we see in the field — it’s part of the traditions, family recipes, and memories we share around the table.

At Shull Ag, we’re proud to support the producers who keep our agricultural community growing. Today, we’re celebrating the farmers behind every sweet bite!

Enjoy something sweet today, and don’t forget to thank a farmer!

September is a busy month on South Carolina farms. As summer begins to fade, fields across the state are shifting from growing to harvesting—and producers are preparing for the next season.

🥜 Peanuts: Harvest is beginning. As of September 6, South Carolina’s peanut harvest had just started, with fields being watched closely for the right time to dig.

🌱 Soybeans: Many soybean fields are moving toward maturity as plants begin dropping leaves, bringing harvest closer.

🌿 Cotton: Cotton is getting closer to harvest, with 29% of bolls open as of September 6. Producers are watching fields closely as the crop continues to mature.

🍠 Sweet potatoes & fall crops: Growers are also looking ahead, preparing for fall harvests and managing fields as the season changes. Sweet potatoes typically reach harvest about 90–120 days after planting.

September is a month of transition, preparation, and hard work—one season's crop is coming out of the ground while producers are already thinking about what's next.

🚜 From the field to the table, South Carolina agriculture keeps moving forward.

What South Carolina crop are you most excited to see harvested this fall? 🌾

This year’s honoree was Governor Henry McMaster. It was a great opportunity to be part of an event recognizing conservation efforts and leadership in our state.
