So I was diggin', and I hit this Biiiiig ROCK. Now What?! Well, here are YOUR common questions (searches on Google) from the Internet, which we will answer here:
1. How much does rock excavation cost (HOT) - This was the top question on the Internet! So we will answer it first: Rock excavation is not "cheap". It took thousands of years to put it there. It's gonna take more than a minute and some doin' to get it out of there.
1. (a) Affordable rock removal near me (TRENDING) - As you can see below, "affordable" is relative term to how much rock there is to be demolished.
ANSWER:
Time is money. So, when comparing how long it takes (i.e., we need to know how much rock it is?), the cost of time and materials is the answer. More rock, More time, and materials used to break it up into manageable chunks. Customers ALWAYS underestimate. But in the end, it is what it is...
Now, depending on where the rock is located, this can alter the costs. Is it in the middle of a remote forest road, or right next to a well or a house foundation? These are all things that need to be considered. The method for breaking up the rock (and the associated costs) varies depending on site requirements and supplies used.
Possible solutions:
A. Using a hydraulic Hammer-- a loud, noisy racket that can go on for WEEKS. The neighbors just "LOVE" this.... (NOT!)
Expensive —$ 11,000 to $15,000 per-week rental! IF IT Works at all. Sometimes the rock is so hard that it's impossible to do it with this method. Now you're left with option "B" AFTER spending all that money.
OR.....
B. Drill and blast (explosives) or drill and put a rock-cracking paste (non-explosive) in the hole. Depends on the site. How many holes need to be drilled, and how long will that take? How much "stuff" needs to be put in the hole to do the job?
But usually just a few days to less than a week.
Are you getting that the answer to the question isn't a quick, one-off-the-cuff answer?! It REALLY... Depends.. Fortunately, we provide free estimates!
OK, Dynamite Dan, you say, but are you talking $hundreds, $thousands, $millions?? Am I going to have to sell a kidney ??!
What am I looking at here?
Small jobs are usually between $ 3,000 and $ 5,000. Medium Jobs between $10,000 - $20,000. Larger jobs go for $25,000 and over. But still, a LOT less money than renting a hydraulic hammer for WEEKS!
Drilling and Blasting is a LOT, LOT(!) faster than using a hydraulic hammer.
When Time is Money! Rock Drilling and Blasting for the Win!
