Some designers prefer to play it safe, but Golden Bird Design fully embraces individuality, and that’s exactly what makes these spaces so memorable.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Their willingness to take risks goes far beyond materials and color palettes. From the bold architectural window framing to sculptural shower details and unexpected built-ins, every decision feels intentional and deeply considered. Nothing feels copied or predictable.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Even with so many unique elements layered throughout, the spaces still feel warm, inviting, and incredibly livable. That balance is what makes thoughtful design so impactful.

Your process is not just about keeping projects organized.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s one of the clearest indicators of how your business operates, what clients can expect from working with you, and whether or not they trust your expertise.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When your process is clearly defined and confidently communicated, aligned clients tend to lean in. They feel reassured by the structure, excited by the experience, and more willing to trust your guidance throughout the project.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Misaligned clients tend to react differently. They question the process, resist boundaries, or struggle to understand the value behind the way you work.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And while that can feel frustrating in the moment, it’s actually valuable information.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because a strong process should not just help guide projects. It should also help identify who is truly aligned with your business from the very beginning.

One of the biggest ways designers undervalue themselves is by only charging for the obvious parts of the job.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The design hours. The meetings. The presentations.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Meanwhile, there are countless behind-the-scenes tasks still taking your time and energy. Picking up samples. Managing deliveries. Storing pieces. Solving problems before the client even knows they exist.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Those things matter because they are still providing value to the client and saving them time, stress, and often money.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And when those responsibilities go unaccounted for, burnout and resentment usually follow. That’s why it’s absolutely vital to make sure you’re both tracking and charging for your time accurately.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Charging appropriately is not about overcharging your clients. It’s about recognizing the full scope of what you actually provide.

We’re endlessly inspired by interiors that feel both bold and restrained at the same time, and Studio Muka does that so beautifully.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The richness of the palette, the warmth of the wood tones, and the intentional mix of materials all come together in a way that feels elevated without feeling overdone. Every room has such a strong point of view, yet still feels deeply livable and inviting.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These spaces remind us how powerful thoughtful materiality and color can be in shaping the overall feeling of a home.

without even realizing it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
At first, it often feels responsible. You care deeply about the work, you want things done correctly, and you’ve spent years building the business into what it is today.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But over time, constantly being the point person for every decision starts to limit growth. Your team becomes dependent on you, operations slow down, and leadership turns into constant reaction instead of intentional direction.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The goal is not to remove yourself from your business completely. It’s to create a structure that allows the business to function well without requiring your involvement in every detail.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because long-term growth requires support, trust, and systems that allow you to lead instead of constantly putting out fires.

Angela Wheeler has a way of designing spaces that feel layered in the best possible way.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Every room feels rich with character and personality while still maintaining a sense of warmth and ease. The color choices, the moodiness, the use of pattern, the vintage touches. It all feels deeply personal and incredibly intentional.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We especially admire how fearless these interiors feel without ever losing their sense of refinement. Each space has its own identity, yet together they tell such a cohesive story.

We often see the misconception in this industry is bigger budgets automatically equal more profitable projects.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But profitability is rarely just about the size of the project. It’s about the relationship between the client and the process.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When clients don’t trust your expertise or fully understand the value behind your process, projects tend to become heavier. More revisions, more questioning, more delays, and more time spent managing emotions instead of moving things forward.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The right clients change that dynamic completely.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They trust your guidance, respect the structure you’ve created, and move through projects with a level of confidence that allows everything to function more efficiently.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And that alignment and efficiency is what ultimately creates profitability.

Kara Phillips of Phillips House was one of our very first clients. It’s been so special to see how their business has grown over the years. It’s so rewarding to see your clients and their design work grow and evolve over time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The warmth of the wood tones, the contrast throughout each space, the dramatic stone selections, the softness layered into the harder architectural elements. Every detail feels carefully considered, yet nothing feels overworked.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The more Kara knew what she wanted, the more aligned her projects and opportunities became. That is the power of strategy.

One of the biggest mistakes we see designers make is jumping straight into the visible parts of business before defining the foundation underneath it all.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The branding. The website. The marketing. The pricing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But before any of those things can work well, you need clarity around who you are, what you want your business to become, and who you’re actually trying to serve.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Those answers become your North Star.
The framework that helps guide every decision moving forward, from how you position your firm to the clients you attract and the way your business evolves over time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Without that foundation, it’s easy for business ownership to start feeling reactive. Like you’re constantly making decisions without a clear sense of direction.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because growth alone is not the goal. Building a business that feels aligned with who you are and what you truly want is.

There’s something about the design style of Berkeley Hawkes that feels both restrained and deeply considered at the same time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It doesn’t try too hard, but it also doesn’t fade into the background. Every space feels intentional without feeling overworked.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We’re always drawn to designers who can hold that balance. There’s a level of restraint here, but also a willingness to make choices that give each space its own point of view.
