Meet Chad Spurgeon, Site Manager at Sequoyah Nuclear Plant with EnergySolutions’ Nuclear Services division.
Chad is a proud Bryant, Alabama native and has been part of the nuclear industry since 2009. Over the last three years with EnergySolutions, he has helped lead critical modification and upgrade projects at TVA facilities. During that time, the team has grown from one crew and one crane to multiple teams working across the TVA Valley, while keeping the same core crew together.
As Chad says, “I couldn’t do it without my team.”
His current work includes installing new boron ice-making equipment to support long-term sustainability, modernizing plant systems from analog to digital controls, and supporting a fish return program that helps protect local wildlife while safeguarding plant intake systems.
Looking ahead, Chad and his team will support plant-wide breaker replacements for nuclear life extension and a fiber optic arc flash project designed to reduce hazards by running fiber to electrical cubicles.
Outside of work, Chad is a turkey hunter, golfer, fisherman, and the owner of six chicken houses.
Thank you, Chad, for your leadership, experience, and commitment to the Nuclear Services team.
