A citizen was shopping and had her purse sitting in the cart. She was distracted by a male "shopper" who started asking her about blankets. During the distraction a second male "shopper" stole the victim’s wallet from her purse. The wallet contained cash and credit cards. Before the victim realized her wallet was missing, she got an alert from her bank indicating her card was being used. The suspected males used the stolen credit cards to purchase a MacBook and $2000 in gift cards. This serves as a reminder to keep an eye on your purse at all times perhaps even keeping it on your person as you shop.

Sandy Police and crossing guards have noticed that many drivers are not stopping and are driving through a school zone crosswalk while the crossing guard or children are in the crosswalk. This picture shows how dangerous not abiding by the law can be for both the crossing guard and the children that are crossing. The law for a school zone crosswalk states "The operator of a vehicle approaching a school crosswalk shall come to a complete stop at the school crosswalk if the crosswalk is occupied by any person." Please keep this in mind as you navigate through school zone crosswalks. The crosswalk needs to be completely empty with the crossing guard and children on the sidewalk before proceeding through. Violators will be ticketed.

It's that time of year again! Today, Salt Lake City School District buses will be navigating through our community to get children to school. Let’s all do our part to help ensure they get there safely. Stop when the bus lights are flashing and DO NOT try to pass.
