I have such a burden for the sweet people in nursing homes, retirement homes, and assisted living facilities. I have also realized that a lot of parents with young children do not have grandparents or parents in facilities and therefore don’t even think about visiting. But children LIGHT up their lives - they LOVE to have visits from children. And it’s wonderful for the kids too - they learn how to interact with the elderly and they learn to look past things like walkers/wheelchairs, oxygen, and people who are “different” from them. As homeschoolers we have even more time during the day and opportunities to get involved. I made this little video to raise awareness. Please watch it and SHARE!! If you are interested in getting involved or “adopting” a grandparent of your own, the best place to start would be to contact the Activities Director at a local facility. Children love to participate in activities with the residents and it’s a good way to make new friends!
