We are proud to participate as a recycling partner in Utah's Charge Your Yard Program, led by the Utah Department of Environmental Quality.

We are supporting local businesses by accepting qualifying equipment for metal recycling as they transition to electric tools through this statewide clean-air initiative.

Earlier today, a fire broke out at our yard located on Harvey Milk Blvd. No injuries were reported and there was no major damage to equipment or infrastructure. We are grateful to the many firefighters who responded so quickly. The fire has since been contained and we are now back to regular operations.

It has been a tragic week for the world and for our company. JD Mair, our dear friend and coworker, passed away on Tuesday. JD was loved by all and will be missed more than words can describe. A GoFundMe has been created and we are sharing the link to encourage donations to support his family in this difficult time.

My name is Clay Ah Quin. I’m fundraising for my Sister in-law and her children. Last night… Clay Ah Quin needs your support for James Darrell Mair Memorial

Americans throw away 25% more trash during the holiday season than any other time of the year, and a significant part of that waste comes from old Christmas lights! We have placed a container near the entrance of Utah’s Hogle Zoo where anyone can bring Christmas lights to be recycled. Please drop by, see the famous , and contribute to keeping our planet green!

Recycle your old holiday lights at the zoo! Utah's Hogle Zoo has teamed up with Metro Recyclers to provide a green-friendly way to dispose of your holiday lights with a light drop box located inside the zoo. Simply come with all your unwanted string lights, and Metro will help us all stay green this season by recycling the glass, plastic, and metal! No zoo ticket required for drop off! See Guest Services for details or deposit your lights, and thank you to YOU and Metro Recyclers for supporting our mission to help create sustainable world!

The recycling symbol is recognized around the world. But not many people know the meaning behind it. The symbol was designed back in 1970, and each of the 3 arrows represents one step of the three-step recycling process:

1. The first arrow represents the collection of materials to be recycled, which occurs when recyclable materials are placed in a collection bin or brought to a recycling facility like Metro.

2. The second arrow is the manufacturing process, where items are separated, prepared (melted down in the case of metal), and manufactured into new products for later consumption.

3. The final arrow represents the purchase of the newly created products, which closes the loop and restarts the process. The purchase of recycled products drives the demand for recycling and provides the capital to begin the process again.

Today is America Recycles Day, let’s all pause for a moment and consider how we can participate in this cycle to make the world a greener place. Happy America Recycles Day!
