May has officially arrived this week. Jazz Fest wraps its final weekend in New Orleans. In Gowanus, the Arts Gowanus Tower Show continues at Union Channel as well as Trans Art Fest! In Salt Lake City, the sun is shining and heading south to camp is on everyone's mind. Three cities, a lot in motion. What's clear looking across all three markets right now is how much good work gets done when the surrounding city is energized. By the last weekend of festival season, the city has been running at full pitch for days. There's something to be said for having a base that holds steady inside all of that. Our members at The Shop at the CAC come in, get a few hours of focused work done, and then head to Jazz Fest when their ready. The Tower Show opens tonight at Union Channel in Gowanus. We have been in this neighborhood long enough to know that a Thursday like this is just a Thursday here. Artists, makers, architects, and founders share a zip code in Gowanus in a way that doesn't happen in most places. Most people don’t think of a coworking space as an environmental choice, but the data is hard to ignore.

Flexible workspaces produce roughly 11 units of CO₂ per square meter, while traditional leased offices produce 49. We didn’t build The Shop to be a sustainability brand. But sharing space, sharing resources, and working closer to where you actually live turns out to be one of the more straightforward environmental choices a team can make.
