A few weeks back, the Carroll Street Bridge reopened after five years of repairs and we threw it a party.

We hosted the block party portion at 420 Carroll alongside Arts Gowanus, Van Alen Institute, the Gowanus Dredgers Canoe Club, Igloo, Hey Clay, artist duo Mookntaka and more of the wonderful people who make Gowanus one of our favorite places. There were illuminated canal creatures floating on the canal. There was a costume contest. There was canoeing. There was a genuinely unhinged amount of craft supplies. This is the kind of afternoon that reminds you why we picked this neighborhood in the first place, it still surprises you.

More of Mookntaka's creatures are on view around Gowanus through August if you know where to look.

Nearly a decade after The Shop opened its first location inside the Contemporary Arts Center, we've opened our second in New Orleans.

Shop SOMA sits on the ground floor of The Standard in South Market, and it carries the same instinct that started this whole thing: a workspace should feel like it belongs to its city, not like it was shipped in from a template.

The design, neighborhood and rhythm is different from the CAC and that's our favorite part. Three cities in, we're more convinced than ever that one of one is the only way to build.

Now that we're open, we figured it was time for a closer look inside. đź‘€

The Shop SOMA was designed to be more than just a place to work. It's a space to meet neighbors, spark ideas, host conversations, and spend your day surrounded by thoughtful design and great people in one of the buzziest New Orleans neighborhoods.

If you haven't stopped by yet, we'd love to show you around. Book a tour today at the link in the comments!

Golden hour, shot on film at The Shop Salt Lake City. One of the best parts of having a membership at a coworking space isn't the desk, it is having a place you actually want to spend time in.

If you've spent an afternoon in this lounge, you know the feeling.

What's your favorite spot to work?

Memorial Day is over and suddenly summer is actually starting. If your team has been running on borrowed conference rooms, coffee shop corners, and shared Zooms since January, this is your sign to shift the conversation.

A private office in Gowanus means your own space, your own culture, month-to-month terms, and a neighborhood worth showing up for. No five-year lease, no buildout, no broker fees. Just a place that feels like yours, in a part of Brooklyn that keeps getting more interesting. Tours this week if you want to come take a look.

May has officially arrived this week. Jazz Fest wraps its final weekend in New Orleans. In Gowanus, the Arts Gowanus Tower Show continues at Union Channel as well as Trans Art Fest! In Salt Lake City, the sun is shining and heading south to camp is on everyone's mind. Three cities, a lot in motion. What's clear looking across all three markets right now is how much good work gets done when the surrounding city is energized. The Shop is built for exactly this rhythm, come experience it yourself this week.

By the last weekend of festival season, the city has been running at full pitch for days. There's something to be said for having a base that holds steady inside all of that. Our members at The Shop at the CAC come in, get a few hours of focused work done, and then head to Jazz Fest when their ready. If you're in town through this weekend, our doors are open for day passes and offices. See you soon!
