It's National Poll Worker Recruitment Day. NPWRD is a national awareness day led by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) to encourage people to help America vote. Serving as a poll worker ensures our democracy stays accessible for all voters.

Here's how you can help strengthen democracy through free, fair, secure, and efficient elections: Step 1) Apply to your local election office. Step 2) Complete your training. Step 3) Help voters cast their ballot. 4) Get paid for the time you serve your community.

On August 6, 1965, the Voting Rights Act was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson. The VRA is considered one of the most impactful pieces of civil rights legislation in U.S. history. It was meant to enforce the 15th Amendment and dismantle systemic barriers such as literacy tests, intimidation and discriminatory redistricting - guaranteeing that every eligible American could make their voice heard at the ballot box.

ICYMI: When Coloradans passed Proposition 114 (formerly Initiative #107) in 2020, Colorado made history as the first state in the nation to let voters decide on the reintroduction of an endangered species/apex predator, rather than leaving it up to federal or state wildlife agencies.

Landslide Political was the chosen field firm to help get Initiative #107 on the ballot. The goal wasn’t just to have enough signatures. Voter education was also key. Having field staff and volunteers who could speak knowledgeably about the ecological, economic, and social impacts of gray wolf reintroduction was critical for election day.

Amid statewide controversy and push back over the ballot measure, the strategies deployed behind these face-to-face conversations subsequently led to Prop 114 passing by a narrow margin. The Rocky Mountain Wolf Action Fund turned decades of wolf advocacy and conservation work into a historic win. The reintroduction of gray wolves to the Southern Rocky Mountains began on December 18, 2023, and it continues today.
