Thanks for all of your hard work over the years, Steve!
We want to take some time to highlight the stories of our employees who have been working for CSC for over 25 years! One such individual is Steve, of CSC Salt Lake City, UT. Steve started working for CSC on July 13, 1993- his first assignment being Def Leppard with Ugly Kid Joe and the Park West Amphitheater in Park City, UT. Steve was recruited to work for CSC by Jon Ribera – CSC Branch Manager at the time – when Steve and his friend attended a concert where they met Jon. “My friend lasted about two years,” said Steve, “Here I am, almost thirty years later.”
Steve’s favorite aspect of working for CSC over the years has been interacting with and helping the guests that make the event. “There is always an opportunity to positively affect someone’s experience,” says Steve. A highlight of Steve’s career was the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, and the events leading up to it. Steve supervised a small security team that was responsible for the perimeter and venue security under direction of Tammy Bradley. “It was an amazing experience working with all the international volunteers, athletes, spectators, and CSCI teammates,” says Steve.
Having worked countless events over nearly 30 years, we asked Steve what his advice would be for new CSC employees or potential employees. He replied, “Imagine for a moment that you are standing next to… your favorite artist while they are signing autographs… or (helping) a new visitor to find their way… or (helping) an impaired guest to get home safely… How gratifying would it be to tell your friends what an amazing job you have. You have just played a crucial role in some of the most amazing events in the country (by) helping to provide a positive experience for our guests. I am very proud of what I do!” Steve says once you start working in the live event business, “Stick with it!” Despite being posted in some unusual places at times, Steve says that you will find the amazing experiences far outweigh the inconveniences. Steve says, “Every position... is critical to the client and to the success of the event.” Steve also suggested to diversify your experience, never stop learning, make suggestions, and find what you like.
When Steve isn’t working for CSC, he enjoys traveling to new places. He has been to almost every US state and most of Canada. Another passion of his is brewing. He visits a variety of breweries in his travels and occasionally brews at home. With the pandemic behind us, he realized how much he enjoyed live music. Pictured is Steve at Chargers v. Broncos game at SoFi Stadium this year. Thank you, Steve, for your hard work and dedication these nearly 30 years, helping thousands of guests in your experience.
