💡 Container 101: Why can’t I pick a specific color for a used container? 🎨📦

We get this question all the time! If you are buying a used container, requesting a specific color is actually one of the hardest requests to fulfill. Here is why:

🚢 They belong to international shipping lines first: Used units spent 5 to 20 years traveling the globe. They were painted to match the branding of the shipping lines that originally owned them (like Maersk or MSC).

🛠️ We prioritize structure over paint: To give you the quickest delivery and fairest pricing, we source the structurally soundest units (like Wind & Watertight or Cargo-Worthy grades) closest to your location. Because we pull inventory based on structural integrity, we get a mix of whatever colors are coming off the yard at that moment.

📆 They have a history: Fading, scratches, surface rust, and patch repairs are all part of a used container's story. Even two "red" or "blue" containers can look completely different depending on their years out at sea!

✨ Want a specific look? We can help!
Through our custom modification services, we offer Custom Painting using premium industrial enamels. We can take a great used container and turn it into Sand, Slate, Forest Green, or any color you need!

Have questions or want to see our modification catalog? Give us a call at 864-445-8417 or 843-717-2522.

Fun Fact: A Life at Sea 🌊

Did you know the average shipping container can travel across the ocean hundreds of times during its career?

These steel giants typically spend 10 to 12 years at sea, enduring salt, wind, and waves before they retire. Whether they’ve made one trip or 200, we make sure they’re ready for their next big job: serving you!

🚢 Container 101: Which Box is Right for You? 📦
Ever wonder what those letters like DV or HC actually mean? Choosing the right container can feel like alphabet soup, but we’re here to break it down!

Here’s a quick guide to the most common types we offer:
*Standard (DV - Dry Van): The classic! These are 8' wide and 8'6" tall. Great for general storage of tools, equipment, or yard supplies.
*High Cube (HC): Need a little extra head room? These units are a foot taller, standing at 9'6". Perfect if you're planning a modification or storing taller items. *Double Door (DD): Doors on both ends! No more digging through the whole unit to get to the back.
*Open Side (OS): One side opens entirely (FULL OS) or with 4 sets of cargo-doors on the side, giving you massive access!

New vs. Used?
*One-Trips: These are the "new" kids on the block—built overseas and shipped here just once. They are in excellent condition and look great on your property.
*Used: Typically 5-15 years old. From "Cargo Worthy" (ready for the sea) to "WWT" (Wind & Water Tight), these are high-value options for secure storage.

Thinking of ordering a container but worried about the delivery? 🚛💨
At Transocean Equipment Management, we make sure your container arrives safely and exactly where you need it! Whether you are a first-time buyer or a long-time partner, we want your delivery day to go as smoothly as possible.

Here is what you can expect when we roll into your site:

1. The Right Truck for the Job // We utilize different equipment based on your needs:
Roll-back and Tiltbed: These specialized trucks are designed to place the unit directly on the ground for you.
Flatbed: If you already have offloading equipment (like a crane or forklift) on-site, we utilize flatbed trucks.

2. Prepare Your Space // To ensure a successful drop-off, make sure your site meets these requirements:
Length: We generally need 100 feet of straight-line space to drop the unit.
Width & Height: Ensure you have at least 13 feet of width and 20 feet of overhead clearance (watch out for those low-hanging branches or power lines!).
Pro Tip: Placing treated wood blocks (4"x6") under each corner can help with airflow and make leveling easier later!

3. Timely Service // While actual dates depend on the trucker's schedule, our average delivery turnaround is within 3 to 7 business days.

Not sure if your site will work? Don’t sweat it! Give us a call at 864-445-8417 and we can virtually evaluate your location to help you plan. You’ll always reach a real human on our team—no automated menus here!

Ever wondered what the actual difference is between shipping container inspection grades? 🚢 📦

Choosing the right container depends entirely on what you’re planning to do with it. Whether you’re shipping goods across the ocean, looking for extra farm storage, or starting a container home project, the grade tells you exactly what kind of condition the unit is in.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the three most common tiers:

~IICL (Institute of International Container Lessors): The gold standard. These units are in top-tier condition, structurally sound, and meet the strictest global standards for leasing and international trade.

~Cargo-Worthy (CW): The reliable middle ground. These aren't always the prettiest, but they are strong enough to be used for international shipping. They might have some normal wear and tears, scuffs and surface rust, but they’ll keep its contents safe and dry.

~Wind and Watertight (WWT): The budget-friendly favorite for static storage. While they may no longer be certified for sea travel, they are guaranteed to keep the elements out—no leaks, no holes, just solid protection for your equipment or inventory.

Swipe through to see the specific properties of each! Which grade fits your next project?
