We are excited to highlight one of our success stories: The Specialist Heating, Cooling & Apliances!

After severe flooding impacted operations during the July 2025 rain, The Specialist Heating & Cooling turned to the ASU Small Business Development Center for support. With guidance from Certified Business Advisor Dave Erickson, the business received assistance navigating SBA disaster recovery resources and preparing the required documentation for funding.

Thanks to this support, The Specialist Heating & Cooling was able to recover essential equipment, retain jobs, and continue serving the San Angelo community.

This grant program is designed to preserve the short- and long-term integrity of the economic and social investment within designated zones (north and south) and to encourage additional new projects within the zone.

Grant Focus Areas:
Exterior improvements
Historic preservation
Landscape installation
Screening of outdoor storage
Paving
Secondary egress
Asbestos abatement
Fire sprinkler and monitored smoke alarm system

How to Apply
1. Review Incentive Policy: Thoroughly read the official TIRZ Incentives Policy to ensure your project meets all requirements.

2. Apply for Design & Historic Review (DHRC): Properties located in the Downtown Overlay or River Corridor must apply for design review for exterior alterations prior to applying for TIRZ.

DHRC Application Submission Deadline: June 19, 2026
DHRC Meeting Date: July 16, 2026

3. Prepare TIRZ Application: Gather all necessary documentation, including business plans, financial/budget information, and project proposals.

4. Submit Application: Complete and submit the TIRZ application form by July 30, 2026.

**Commercial property owners in the North Zone may apply at anytime.
**Commercial property owners in the South Zone may only apply when application window is available.
**Non-profit organizations are not eligible to apply
