For August, be sure to recycle your aluminum cans! This metal is a valuable resource to many industries and the production of critical technology. Recycling aluminum uses as little as 5% of the energy it takes to make a new aluminum can. The Aluminum Association estimates $800 million worth of aluminum cans end up in the landfill each year. That’s 800 million reasons to recycle aluminum every opportunity you have. . .

And remember always recycle it EMPTY, CLEAN, and DRY!

With the summer heating up, it’s a great time to fire up the grill and get outside!

When you’re done with your propane tank, do not put it in your recycling bin. They’re hazardous to recycling personnel and can lead to severe accidents as well as cause explosions and fires in recycling vehicles and at recycling facilities. Improper disposal can also harm the environment, leading to pollution and unnecessary waste in landfills.

What should you do? Look for a Propane Tank Drop-off or return it to the retailer or propane exchange.

After you indulge in this frozen delight, remember its container as well as other frozen food containers are not recyclable at JBSA. Please discard them in the trash and not in a recycling bin. Thank you for Recycling Right @ JBSA!

07/23/26 - 07/27/26: The Lackland Recycling Center will close at 1130 on Thursday (07/23/26) and will reopen on Tuesday (07/28/26). Please do not leave any materials outside the gate except properly sorted into labeled collection containers.
The Ft. Sam Houston and Randolph Recycling Centers are operating normal hours (0730-1130 and 1230-1530). Thank you for Recycling Right @ JBSA!

So true! The JBSA QRP only accepts plastic *bottles and jugs* with recycling symbol #1 & #2.
Please toss plastic to-go cups, clamshell containers, and all other plastic items in the trash can.
