Is Technology Killing Your Job Search?

It can seem like job seekers spend half their time filling out on-line application forms when looking to make a job change. If you're lucky, you get an automated response. Usually, however, upon hitting "enter" your information just vanishes, making you feel like all your experience and accomplishments have ended up in the same place as the lost socks in the dryer.

What should you do and not do in these situations?

First off, NO Recruiter stalking. They are nice people. Don't mean girl them on Twitter or follow them into the ladies room at lunch.

However, maybe take a look on LinkedIn or the Company Home page and see if you know someone who knows someone at that company to arrange an intro to the recruiter. (Don't go around the recruiter to the hiring manager. All HR people hate that)

No guarantees, but at least you will feel as if your resume got the look it deserved. I would love to hear some thoughts on this from candidates and recruiters as well... (not mentioning any names Monica N and Michelle Y.)
