Michal Waechter is an experienced healthcare administrator. After a decade in hospital leadership in San Antonio she started Waechter Consulting Group. Prior to relocating to San Antonio, Michal earned a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from Texas State University. She maintains membership in the Texas State Alumni Association and continues to serve on the Texas State Leadership Council. She is an active member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), and has been a Board Certified Fellow since 2012. She is a member of the ACHE Consultants Forum and serves as an ACHE Mentor. During her tenure with Baptist Health System, Michal served in several roles including Regional Growth Officer, Regional Director of Women’s and Children’s Services and Regional Director of Oncology Services. As the Regional Director of Oncology Services, Michal led creation of the Baptist Breast Network and growth from one site to six, creation of the GI Cancer Center and maturation of the South Texas Lung Institute, including achievement of the Lung Screening Center of Excellence award. She also led the Baptist Cancer Center to achieve national cancer program accreditations from the Commission on Cancer and the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. Michal served as Chair of the Tenet National Oncology Advisory Council, representing 75 oncology programs across the nation. In addition to her professional obligations, Michal is a member of the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, Hill Country Women in Business and the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and currently serves as the Co-Chair of the NAWBO Growth and Development Committee. She has Chaired the American Cancer Society’s Ranch Chic Fashion Show since 2016 and was awarded the Baron’s Award in 2021. She is Certified in Lean Six Sigma and Dare to Lead. In her personal time, she enjoys spending time with her three children, traveling with her husband, cooking and connecting with family and friends.
