A sure-fire way to make me frustrated? Spending time re-hashing decisions we have already made. I (and my close colleagues and friends) have know this for a while. But did you know there is a way to guess this might be the case WITHOUT knowing me super well?

2 weeks ago I lead a group of leaders through workshop that helped them understand their own style and recognize that of others. We used a common tool called DiSC and at Luminaries Consulting, we love this tool for helping leaders and salespeople (or anyone) better work with others.

Salespeople, step back into my above example for a moment. Imagine you were trying to sell something to me and each time we spoke, we were re-hashing decisions that didn’t need rehashing - or spending too much time (in my opinion) discussing options or talking ABOUT things without making decisions. That would not be a successful sale - because I am a strong Di style and have a bias for action.

But you don’t need to see my assessment results to guess that this might be the case. Once you know the model, you can simply observe how I talk, my body language, and the words I use and you can get pretty directionally accurate. As salespeople, it’s like knowing a secret code to help you better connect with your prospects (or employees, colleagues, etc).
