This week, we're highlighting Michael, Senior Director of Creative and Communications.

Michael leads the creative vision behind Unico's brand campaigns, event activations, and communications. He also develops creative sponsorship opportunities that help our non-profit clients engage partners in meaningful ways while maximizing impact and visibility.

Creating meaningful experiences starts long before guests arrive, with pre-event site visits.

As we prepare for the Latino Community Foundation's gathering in Austin, Texas, our team has been exploring the people, places, and cultural influences that make Texas unique. From Mexican American art and cultural landmarks to iconic skyline views, each site visit helps us better understand the stories, history, and spirit of the communities that will be represented.

Our goal is to create an experience that feels authentic, intentional, and rooted in place. Because the most memorable events don't just bring people together. They create a connection to the community around them.

We recently had the privilege of supporting the 2026 Latinas in Leadership Symposium in Hartford, Connecticut. From the moment the doors opened, it was clear this was more than a conference. It was a gathering grounded in purpose, ambition, and a shared commitment to community.

The vision and leadership of CEO Marilyn Alverio were on full display throughout the experience. She has built an environment where more than 750 Latina leaders, entrepreneurs, executives, and changemakers came together to learn from one another, connect meaningfully, and elevate collective impact.

The symposium concluded with a powerful fireside chat featuring legendary civil rights leader Dolores Huerta. Her presence, perspective, and lifelong commitment to advocacy created a deeply moving close to the program.

We are grateful for the opportunity to support such a meaningful gathering and inspired by the extraordinary women who filled the room.

Meet Emily Malave Searles, our Senior Meeting Planner & Expo Manager.

Emily oversees the many moving pieces that bring expo floors to life. From exhibitor coordination and floor plan development to vendor logistics and attendee flow, she helps ensure every detail is thoughtfully organized and executed.

Her work focuses on creating an environment where exhibitors can successfully showcase their organizations, attendees can easily navigate the space, and every element contributes to a polished event. Behind every well organized expo is a great deal of planning, communication, and coordination, and Emily is often at the center of making it all come together.

Grateful for afternoons like this with our friends at the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Unico is truly proud to be Chamber members and part of a community that continues to champion growth, connection, and opportunity for all.

Thank you for such a meaningful lunch and the chance to reconnect. And yes… we are more than ready to get the soccer ball rolling on the 2027 Gala. The energy is building and we cannot wait for what is ahead!
