The first gargantuan hailstone (Fig. 4) fell around 0040 UTC April 29 2021 (1940 CDT 28 April) and was estimated between 6 to 7 inch diameter by the finder. Dr. Matthew Kumjian of Penn State University used photogrammetry to estimate the diameter between 6.27 and 6.57 inches.

After further review, the April 28th, 2021 Hondo Hailstone is now the official Texas State Record for largest hailstone. More details can be found at the links below from NCEI. The stone measured in at 6.416 inches in diameter!

Troutbusters Place 3rd in Guided Division at the Hook Line and Surveyor Tournament!

Chapter 11 of the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors hosts the Hook Line and Surveyor Tournament annually. Proceeds from the tournament benefit the TSPS Alamo Chapter 11 Scholarship fund, and raising money through a fishing tournament is FUN! This amateur fishing tournament is open to anyone, and has a guided and unguided division. UGT hosted a team, meeting up with tournament members in Port Aransas for a meet and greet. Meeting at 6 am and fishing until 4 pm, UGT’s guide led them to the big fish that landed the 3rd place victory using his expertise and knowledge of the bay area.
