Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. 🇺🇸

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend — it is a time to reflect on the courage, service, and dedication of those who gave everything for our country. Their legacy lives on in the freedoms we enjoy each and every day.

Please join us in remembering our fallen heroes and keeping their families in our thoughts today.

Behind the Magic: Producing America’s Largest Illuminated Night Parade
By: Casey J. Watts, CFEE, Marshaling Director, Fiesta Flambeau Parade

The Fiesta Flambeau Parade Association proudly continues its tradition of producing America’s Largest Illuminated Night Parade, bringing together creativity, entertainment, culture, and community spirit in the heart of San Antonio. The Fiesta Flambeau Parade has become one of the most recognized and anticipated events in Texas, attracting over 850,000 spectators annually while showcasing illuminated floats, marching bands, performers, and community organizations in a world-class nighttime spectacle. What audiences experience on parade night is the result of year-round planning, coordination, and dedication from an extraordinary team of volunteers, board members, sponsors and community partners committed to delivering an unforgettable event.

The 2026 Fiesta Flambeau Parade, themed “Adventures in Toyland,” represented another major milestone for the organization. Through innovative marketing, expanded community outreach, and enhanced production efforts, the parade reached new heights in audience engagement and visibility. This year alone, Fiesta Flambeau generated more than 22.2 million impressions across social media platforms, digital advertising, media coverage, and promotional campaigns, further solidifying the parade’s presence as a nationally recognized event. The organization also launched a newly redesigned website that provided a more streamlined experience for attendees, participants, sponsors, and volunteers, making access to parade information, tickets, transportation updates, and event details easier than ever before.

Producing a parade of this magnitude requires exceptional operational coordination and teamwork. The Fiesta Flambeau Parade Association successfully managed participant staging, float inspections, volunteer coordination, transportation logistics, public safety partnerships, media operations, and crowd management while maintaining the high production standards that spectators have come to expect. Collaboration with city agencies, law enforcement, the San Antonio Fire Department, VIA Metropolitan Transit, sponsors, and community organizations ensured a safe, organized, and spectacular experience for everyone involved. The parade also continued to strengthen partnerships throughout the community, including collaborations with organizations such as SeaWorld San Antonio and the San Antonio Fiesta Commission, helping elevate the overall experience and excitement surrounding the event.

One of the greatest accomplishments of Fiesta Flambeau remains its ability to unite the community through volunteerism, culture, and celebration. The dedication of the leadership team, committee members, and volunteers continues to drive the success and growth of the organization year after year. From marketing and sponsorship development to marshaling operations and event production, every department contributed to making the 2026 parade one of the most successful productions in the organization’s history.

As Fiesta Flambeau looks toward the future, the organization remains committed to innovation, excellence, and preserving the tradition of illuminating the streets of San Antonio with a celebration that continues to inspire audiences across Texas and beyond.

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our dear friend, colleague, and 2025 IFEA World Board Chair, Joe Vera, CFEE, who passed away peacefully this morning, surrounded by family.

Joe’s loss is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him — and by countless others around the world whose lives and work were impacted by his unwavering passion for and dedication to the global festivals and events industry, particularly through his leadership with City of McAllen, TX, the IFEA and TFEA.
