More construction 🚧 is coming!!

This is Loop 1604 at Culebra Rd. in San Antonio looking southwest in 2001 (yes, the year is correct) and a recent view from Google Maps. (2001 photo courtesy of TxDOT) The overpass at Culebra was built in 2004, and Loop 1604 in this area was expanded from the original two-lane farm road configuration to a four-lane divided highway in 1999, and subsequently upgraded to a full freeway in 2016. The Wal-Mart was built in 2000. In the background is the Alamo Ranch area, which broke ground in 2006, with the Alamo Ranch Marketplace shopping center starting construction a year later.

(NOTE: Moving vehicles are typically not visible in Google’s 3D aerial views because the imagery is created from multiple time-lapse photos, causing objects that change position between images -- such as moving vehicles -- to fade or disappear when the photos are combined. That is why parked vehicles are still visible.)
