📣On National Dog Day, Southsider Announces the SOUTHSIDER FIVE STAR SCHOLARSHIP Fundraiser for Burbank HS Bulldogs📣

Inspired by local legends of the Southside who cared enough to give their everything to kids and encouraged them to succeed. Many who are no longer with us while many who are in our midst waiting to emerge. Out of tremendous respect and deep admiration for them we shall march forward and carry the torch to light the path until it is our time to pass the torch to generations to come who will do the same. We will uphold and maintain this fine and worthy tradition. Burbank HS is the first stop. Southsider endeavors to furthermore support other Southside High Schools in the future through its boutique sales program. 🔥🙏

🎓 Southsider partnered with SAISD Foundation in March of this year to fund trade scholarships. The Southsider First Star: The Alamo Scholarship was awarded in May of this year to an aspiring Welder from Burbank. Now, is your time to help Burbank High School, SAISD grads launch their careers in the trades. Be bold enough to believe in the future of our kids!🛠️

We are officially launching a fundraiser to support the Southsider Five Star Scholarship program. Our goal is to raise funds to provide critical financial support for five Burbank senior students entering trade schools, vocational programs, and apprenticeships.

As we see major corporations investing in manufacturing plants in and around San Antonio, the demand for skilled trade professionals is higher than ever, and our young Bulldogs are ready to work hard. Your donation directly covers the tuition, tools, and certifications these students need to build a bright future. This will further strengthen Burbank’s richly proud vocational heritage it was founded upon and advance its contributions to the trade workforce. 💪

Something you may have known, but we did not know about Metallica until now. Just amazing. There is honor and respect for the Trades.💪🏼♥️

Metallica is one of the biggest metal bands on the planet. What most of their fans don't know is what the band has quietly been building off stage: one of the largest trade-school pipelines in the country.

It runs through their foundation, All Within My Hands, and specifically the Metallica Scholars Initiative. In partnership with the American Association of Community Colleges, the band funds career and technical education, real, hands-on training for real jobs. Welding. Plumbing. Electrical work. And increasingly, nursing, EMT and firefighting, automotive repair, pipefitting, and agriculture.

The scale is the surprising part. As of 2026, the program supports 93 community colleges across all 50 states, plus Guam. Its latest round alone put more than 3 million dollars into those schools. And it has now backed some 13,000 students in learning skills that lead to stable, well-paying careers, with the program recently expanding overseas too.

Frontman James Hetfield has explained why it matters to them. Touring, he points out, runs entirely on skilled trades: the electricians, drivers, cooks, and mechanics who make every show possible. The band said it wanted to reinvest in exactly those kinds of workers.

No splashy campaign. No album tie-in. Just a metal band deciding that the people who build and fix and wire the world deserve a shot, and quietly footing the bill for thousands of them 🤘
