🚒🌬️ **INCREASED STAFFING AHEAD OF HIGH WINDS**

CAL FIRE San Bernardino/Inyo/Mono Unit is increasing staffing and placing additional personnel and firefighting equipment into service ahead of the High Wind Warning and elevated wildfire danger.

These proactive steps strengthen our readiness to respond as strong winds and dry vegetation create conditions where a single spark can quickly become a fast-moving wildfire.

**Our crews are preparing. Are you?**

✅ Avoid outdoor activities that could produce sparks, including welding, grinding, and mowing dry vegetation.
✅ Keep your emergency go-bag ready, including medications, important documents, and supplies for pets.
✅ Know at least two evacuation routes and review your household’s evacuation plan.
✅ Sign up for local emergency alerts and follow instructions from public safety officials.
✅ Leave promptly when an evacuation order is issued. If you feel unsafe, leave early.

👷🌿 Behind every cleared channel are crews putting in the work.

CAL FIRE San Bernardino Unit’s Prado Conservation Camp crews have been removing overgrown vegetation from flood control channels, basins and spillways in support of the San Bernardino County Flood Control District and local cities.

Near North Campus Avenue and Colonies Parkway in Upland, crews cleared approximately five acres. Additional work included locations near Schaefer Avenue and Archibald Avenue in Chino, and 26th Street at the Cucamonga Creek Flood Control Basin.

By reducing hazardous fuel loading and clearing vegetation from water channels, crews are helping our communities prepare for both wildfire and winter storms.

For CAL FIRE / Yucaipa Fire Department personnel, this recognition carries a deeply personal meaning.

Redlands Community Hospital presented our personnel with an award for their early intervention when their own on-duty captain experienced a stroke.

His fellow firefighters quickly recognized the emergency and initiated treatment. Their rapid intervention, together with the care provided by teams at Redlands Community Hospital and Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, contributed to his full recovery.

Firefighters serve in a profession with significant physical demands and emotional stress. Recognizing those demands reinforces the importance of supporting heart health, overall well-being and early recognition of medical emergencies throughout the fire service.

We thank Redlands Community Hospital for honoring our personnel and both hospital teams for their exceptional care. This award recognizes teamwork, readiness and the people who helped make our captain’s full recovery possible.
