My sixth time sitting for the 6-hour National Notary Association notary CLE course. The refresher course is 3 hours in California, but I prefer the 6-hour in-person course. It refreshes my memory and reinforces the material through visual, auditory, and tactile learning, which is ideal for those who learn best via multiple learning styles. 🙂

Renewing my Notary Commission! This year I'll celebrate 20 years as a Notary Public. I'm thankful for 20 years of National Notary Association membership and the many resources the NNA provides, including arranging its continuing legal education course and the state exam on the same day!

Ten (10) years ago this month I applied to volunteer as an on-call Notary Public with the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program, Inc. (SDVLP) HIV/AIDS Clinic. I knew I wanted to volunteer but I had no idea how rewarding it would be. Earlier this month I performed three (3) more notarizations for SDVLP, which served as a reminder of this 10-year anniversary.

SDVLP is a fantastic organization that provides pro bono legal services to low income, disadvantaged, and underserved populations. As you consider donating during this season of giving, please consider SDVLP and similar organizations that provide legal services, guidance, and information and resources to populations most in need within our communities.

Celebrating 10 years of volunteering with San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program, Inc. (SDVLP) this month with another round of volunteer notarizations for an SDVLP client. I was just informed that my posts on this topic have inspired other notaries to sign up as volunteers! Amazing!

Thank you to National Notary Association's 2025 Notary of the Year and Founder of Professional Notary Services, Inc., Marcy Tiberio, for inviting me to present at Notary Public Day Extravaganza. Today's session, From Print to Digital: Building a Unified Notary Brand was well attended and well received. Notary entrepreneurs learned about the core elements of brand building and received actionable insights, including how to create an advertising channel guide to streamline marketing functions, and build rapport and trust with current and future clients.

How fun is this? I was playing Everybody Knows with my kids earlier and a Notary Public question popped up. While the game's definition oversimplifies the role, it was nice to see this important role recognized in popular culture!
