It’s one of the first questions many North American investors ask when considering Dubai. U.S. citizens and tax residents can still have U.S. tax questions when they invest abroad, and the answers depend on their individual circumstances, including how they own and use the property.

In this new episode of The Dubai Connect® Podcast, I talk with a U.S. tax professional based in the UAE about two investor scenarios: a U.S.-based investor who owns a Dubai rental property, and a U.S. person living and earning income in the UAE who also owns an investment property.

We discuss rental income, ownership structures, foreign earned income rules, recordkeeping, and questions to ask before a future sale. The episode focuses mainly on U.S. tax considerations. Investors from other countries should check how their own tax residency and home-country rules apply.
