The first remote school offering students education in the metaverse has opened in Japan.

Children will be able to attend classes from any location in the country starting from April of this year. All the necessary equipment for this will be provided by the organizers.

The virtual school’s curriculum complies with the standards of Japan’s education law and differs from the regular one only in that the main emphasis will be on subjects related to esports and digital technologies. Each student will independently choose an avatar to represent them during classes.

Upon completion of their studies, graduates will receive a standard high school diploma.

Recently, an interesting article came out about Google and how the Performance Review process is structured.

GRAD is a system where, starting from 2023, Google conducts team reviews and evaluations once a year instead of the spring and fall cycles. The evaluation system itself consists of 5 points, ranging from 1 – Not Enough Impact (NE or N) to 5 – Transformative Impact (TI or T).

It’s intriguing that there is a stick system, where a certain percentage [2%] is immediately designated to receive the lowest rating of 1, meaning “made no impact on the product.”

Now it seems that due to reviews being conducted only once a year, reviewing offers and advancing on the career ladder at Google will become more challenging for employees.

Of course, it is advisable to regularly discuss with your manager what needs to be done to address skill gaps and move from, let’s say, an L5 grade to an L6 grade at Google.

[By the way, having a regular PIP (Performance Improvement Plan) can help in any company; it’s a good tool to have, especially if you work in HR.]

The job description is a crucial tool in the hands of a recruiter, so it’s important to pay attention to some details 👇.

🖋 Format and Style

1️⃣ Use specifics, avoiding generalizations.
❌ “Stable company”
✅ “No employees were laid off during the pandemic.”

2️⃣ Write simply and clearly.
❌ “Office with a full set of benefits, located 10 minutes from the subway”
✅ “Our office is just a 10-minute walk from the subway. It has a kitchen, a relaxation area, and separate meeting rooms.”

3️⃣ Avoid passive constructions.
❌ “Your duties will include…”
✅ “You will be responsible for…”

4️⃣ Eliminate clichés and stamps.
❌ “We are a young company that is dynamically developing. Our clients are leaders in their fields.”
✅ “Despite being in the market for only 2 years, our clients include ‘Google,’ ‘Spotify,’ and ‘Netflix.’”

5️⃣ Check spelling and grammar before publication. Use proofreading services.

6️⃣ Does the description align with the communication style of your company?

7️⃣ Text formatting: correct indents, highlighted paragraphs, and the most important information in bold.

8️⃣ The ad shouldn’t be too long—150-200 words (1000-1500 characters).

1. The key player in Altman's dismissal was Ilya Sutskever, co-founder and Chief Scientist. It's all because he's against the commercialization of AI models.
2. Emmett Shear, co-founder of Twitch, was appointed as the interim CEO.
3. However, the board of directors soon began discussing his return under pressure from investors and the threat of a mass employee strike.
4. Microsoft, the largest investor in OpenAI, seems to be the winner in this situation, as Altman and co-founder Greg Brockman are moving to Microsoft to lead a new cutting-edge AI research group.
5. Shear's appointment as CEO raised eyebrows, considering his limited leadership in AI and his previous departure from Twitch. However, he accepted the challenge and expressed the intention to commercialize OpenAI's impressive models with the support of the board of directors.
6. Sam Altman will return to OpenAI as the CEO, and the board of directors will be updated – the parties have reached an agreement.

*OpenAI has experienced rapid growth since the launch of ChatGPT just a year ago. Earlier this month, Altman announced that he has over 100 million users per week, making it one of the fastest-growing services of all time.
