The Fire Foundation was proud to be a part of Chula Vista acquiring the Green Climber, an essential tool for clearing dry overgrown brush. This remote controlled machine gets the brush cleared quickly and efficiently to create much-needed defensible space - giving fire crews a better chance to save homes. Brush Engine 18 is officially operating out of the new Crest firehouse. The rig is currently being outfitted with equipment and the San Miguel Fire & Rescue officials say they hope to have it in service within the next couple months, ideally before peak fire season. The new apparatus was acquired with grant assistance from the San Diego Regional Fire Foundation and the San Diego River Conservancy. Shoutout to East County Magazine for the posting! This 4x4 powerhouse is a game-changer for the community, specifically designed to navigate the difficult terrain of the San Diego River bed and protect sensitive riparian habitats.
