Gene Valdez founded The CEO Teachers in 2016 when he left commercial banking to pursue coaching/consulting full time. During his 39 year business career he formed and operated another coaching/consulting business called The Claremont Advisory Company which focused on entrepreneurial coaching and financial management consulting. For the majority of his business career he was a senior commercial banking executive for several major business banks in Southern California including Bank of California, Wells Fargo and Citizens Business Bank.
During his 30 year commercial banker career Gene specialized in servicing the needs of privately owned small businesses with annual sales of $500,000 to $25 million. These years afforded him hands on experience on how the “money/loan game really works”, an insider’s view perspective he now shares with his CEO clients.
Gene’s personal mission is to increase the level of CEO business finance literacy in Southern California which he believes is the key to a business achieving long term viability. In addition to being a coach and consultant Gene is also an author, business columnist, public speaker and college business professor.
Gene has taught entrepreneurship and business finance as a guest lecturer at USC, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State San Bernardino, Mount San Antonio Community College, Riverside Community College and San Bernardino Valley College. He currently is on the adjunct business faculty team of Chaffey College where he teaches two business courses, general business and leadership.
In addition to teaching Gene, has appeared on radio and TV as an expert on entrepreneurship and business finance and also co-authored a book titled, “How to Obtain a Business Loan from a Bank.” Over the years Gene, has written numerous business articles for the LA Times, San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Ontario Daily Bulletin, Sun Telegram, Riverside Business Press and IE Business Daily.
