FIGURING OUT FRIENDSHIPS - Rising 7th-12th graders

Middle school and high school bring a whole new social landscape: shifting friendships, complex group dynamics, and growing peer influence. In this group, students get direct instruction in key social communication strategies alongside the chance to talk through the real situations they're navigating every day.

Through guided discussion and interactive activities, they build skills for managing changing friendships, handling peer pressure, and advocating for themselves with confidence. Middle school and high school students meet separately so the conversation fits where they are.

Have a kid who loves LEGO? Our summer LEGO® Builders group is where kids who love to build also build friendships. As they work side by side on collaborative LEGO® sets, students practice the real-world skills that make group play work: sharing ideas, compromising, solving disagreements, and listening to their teammates.

Each session pairs direct instruction of social concepts with plenty of hands-on building, and wraps up with a group creative project where the kids draft their own story and bring it to life through stop-motion filmmaking. It's hands-on, it's fun, and the social learning happens naturally along the way.

Summer 2026 Groups are NOW OPEN for enrollment at Social Communication Specialists!

We offer social communication groups for kids and teens from Kindergarten through 12th grade and this summer we have something for everyone:

🤝 From Me to We — Ages K-2nd
📚 Social Skillbuilders — Grades 3-5
🎨 Crafting & Connection — Grades 5-7 (Girls)
🍳 Cooking Club — Grades 6-8
💬 Figuring Out Friendships — Grades 7-12
🎲 Quest for Growth (Role-Playing Games) — Grades 7-12

Groups are small, fun, and fill fast! New families are required to schedule a free 30-minute consultation before enrolling.

In our kitchen, we do more than bake. We build executive functioning skills using the “Get Ready, Do, Done” framework. Students first picture the finished product, then plan what they need and the steps involved, and finally carry out the task from start to finish. Along the way, there is plenty of teamwork, problem solving, conversation and fun happening naturally around the table!
