Sometimes we get so caught up in building the new system that we forget our obligations and promises to our current fulfillment.

This is 24 weeks in with Bob as some of you already know, he runs a content agency and him and his team been working so hard to try to:

1. attract the right talent
2. increase their capacity to deliver for clients
3. free up leadership so that they can focus on the biz.

It’s awesome to have clients that fully trust you to get them to where they want to go but it’s also important to always zoom out and see what’s going on right now.

Something that’s been frustrating Bob is how many candidates he screens through his new hires that can do it without AI in their content work.

Now everyone signs an agreement literally on these two nonnegotiables that Bob and his team came up with and if they fail it’s bye bye.

Sometimes you’re hiring for video skills when you should be hiring for integrity.

Also it’s a dial not a “this or that”.

The rule is pretty simple pick the thing that’s harder to teach. Find the guy or gal with that already, and teach the other thing that’s missing when you hire them into your media team.

Pull back the curtain a bit, reassure your clients that you know where you’re taking them.

If you want people to stay with you. Promise what you do, actually do it, and show them how you ensure it’s done.

I firmly believe in the beginning, you should do the unscalable thing before talking about leveraging anything.

If you’re a founder building your video team or as they call a media team these days, it’s completely normal to feel like running video is hard because it is.

Rome wasn’t built in a day as they say. If investing the time isn’t worth it for you, if finding quality creatives gets you out of your element, if it doesn’t make sense then it’s a valid option to just not figure it out.

I recently lost a job today AI.
And it’s not for the reasons that you think.

Honestly, clients could care less about whether the thing was done through AI or not it could be any tool and honestly it must if you aren’t even using AI you’re just using automation inside AI that’s barely scratching the surface of the tool anyways.

What really matters though is de-risking.

How do we get the thing we want spending the least amount of time with the lowest amount of risk.

If you can figure that out inside your video team, then nobody cares if it’s AI or if it’s a human operating it.

You wanted to build a content team. It got heavier before it compounded.

Somehow you ended up running a small production company inside your company.

AI made video easier to produce.
I’m not sure it made it easier to make.

But someone still has to think.
Prompt. Choose. Reject. Redo.
And decide what’s actually good.

If that someone is still you…
the most expensive part of the process never left.

The internet fans love conflict.

We could just sit down and layout pros and cons to ethically use ai in creative teams on a case by case bases.

But nah that’s too boring for social media.

Anyhow feel free to go back to fighting. I’ll be over here solving problems instead of creating drama.
