What comes first, the design or the content of your website?

This "chicken or the egg" dilemma can be tough as you navigate a new website build or redesign. One thing is for certain - your design and content need to feel interconnected.

The design may capture visitor's attention, but your content is what's going to get them to take that action.

🖼From using personal team photos and headshots to aligning your imagery with the content it's next to on your site, there are several ways to establish a consistent brand voice and style on your website.

Check out some specific tips in this vlog by Strategist and Content Writer, Maria Newman, here: https://tinyfrog.com/the-importance-of-connecting-design-with-content/

Does your website provide the information that people are looking for?

It can be easy to get caught up in bragging about your years in business or sharing every service detail, but that's not what people care most about.

Potential new clients want to confirm if you're the right fit to help them. One of our newest website redesigns for Pure Portfolios, a wealth management firm, helps people do just that. The website:

➡ Embraces transparency, & shares the firm's fees right on the home page

➡ Confirms who they work with by highlighting 3 "Stories of Transformation" AKA case studies

➡ Focuses on the visitor's goals and interests throughout the content

➡ Reduces uncertainty by introducing their 3-step client process

If you're not sure how to implement something similar to your own website, take a moment to imagine what your ideal clients are thinking, doing, and feeling as they navigate your website so that you can tailor in a way that addresses their key questions, concerns, and goals.

Content creation can be daunting for a lot of people. If you're not sure what to cover, we've got a few ideas to come up with your next piece of content!

▪ Every time a client asks you a question, write it down and expand on the answer. Chances are if one person asked, others have the same question on their mind

▪ Stay up-to-date with industry news. If there's a significant or exciting update that relates to your industry, services, or client type, talk about it and how it might impact your work

▪ Take a look at your own process. Are there elements that might be foreign to people, or tips that could help someone navigate it effectively?

Once you've created your content, you can:

💻Write a short blog article and publish it on your site

🎬Post a YouTube or Vimeo video with just yourself or another expert and embed it on your site

📒Write a whitepaper or longer article and provide it in exchange for someone's contact info

📢Record an audio file or interview and share it as a podcast episode

📩 Send a newsletter to your email list

📈Create an infographic to illustrate latest industry trends

You can repurpose your content and either share the link or a snippet of the information on social media to drive traffic back to your website.

If you're an advisor without a niche, it's time to start thinking about who you want to work with.

There are over 330,000 in the United States, and working with a specific type of client can help you stand out from the competition.

One of our recent website design clients has a very specific - active and retired NHL Hockey players.

On top of the hockey-focused images and icons, Hockey Wealth Group's new clearly defines their niche with audience specific written content and an introduction of the firm's two audience segments on the home page.

Once you know your niche, make sure your website:

✅ Defines your ideal client type, whether that be based on job title, age, or circumstance

📝Uses vocabulary that your clients will understand and relate to

💸Shares your knowledge and experience dealing with your client's unique financial challenges, questions, and goals

Do you include social proof on your website?

helps you build trust with website visitors and shows your knowledge and experience. This is an especially important element for financial advisors' websites.

Here are 6 compliance-friendly ways to incorporate social proof into your website:

1. Quantify your Expertise
Share details such as how long you have been in business, the number of clients you've helped, or your assets under management.

2. Show your Partners
If you use strategic partners, memberships, and other networks to support your services, include those logos on your website.

3. Feature success stories
This illustrates the experience you have helping people that fit your ideal client type and gives people an idea of what it’s like to work with you.

4. Share certificates or awards
Feature awards you've won or certifications you've earned to strengthen your credibility.

5. Create a “featured-in” section
Similar to awards, show the logos of the media you've been mentioned in to further establish credibility.

6. Share your custodian
Ensure that your client's money will be safe by showing who your custodian is and how that benefits your clients.
