I don’t know if I’m the only one who feels this way, but I’ve never been completely comfortable with the idea of giving AI access to everything.
Every day I see people connecting AI directly to their inboxes, their files, their bookkeeping systems, and all kinds of business tools. And while I absolutely see the value of AI, I tend to be a little more cautious.
That’s why I’ve been experimenting with a different approach using Zapier.
Instead of giving AI access to my entire inbox, I can use Zapier to watch for very specific emails and only pass along the exact information I want AI to process.
In the example, I receive affiliate commission emails from various companies. When one of those emails comes in, Zapier identifies it, AI pulls out a few details I need, and then that Zapier automatically adds that information to my accounting system.
The important part is that AI isn’t reading every email in my inbox. It isn’t seeing client conversations or digging through information it doesn’t need. It’s simply helping me process one very specific type of email and perform one very specific task.
Personally, I think this is a much more comfortable way for many business owners to start experimenting with AI.
You don’t have to jump straight into giving AI access to your entire business. Sometimes the best place to start is by identifying one repetitive task that’s eating up your time and seeing if there’s a way to automate just that piece.
I’d be curious to know where everyone else falls on this. Are you all-in on AI and connecting it to everything, or are you a little more cautious like me?
And if you’ve been wanting to explore AI but aren’t quite sure how to do it in a way that feels comfortable, send me a message or comment the word “TECH”. I’d love to help! 💙
