Values are the rooted beliefs and guides that shape a person's decisions, behaviors, and interactions.

Some people really value a deal. They want to feel like they are getting more than they paid for.

Some people value time, so they want to feel like they are using their time wisely. They appreciate convenience.

Some people value comfort. They want ease and want to avoid negative distractions.

Some people value quality. They want to know that what they are paying for will last and meet their expectations.

When you raise prices, you will always lose a few clients. What’s important is making sure that the value that is built into the experience of your services is also boosted, so that you not only hold onto most of the clients you currently have, but you also attract other clients when you convey these values in your marketing.

Most people are tired of tipping culture. Consider raising to a price that also includes this tip. If you lose a few clients, the math should math to where you’re still earning more, or at least the same, while working less. That’s the goal for most of us so we can preserve our bodies long term and live fulfilling lives outside of work.

And competition? Be the competition!

Lastly, and probably most importantly, go see the lady and work on self worth. When that part of you is healed and boosted, earning a live-able wage without needing to sacrifice your body will be a no brainer.

My friend Laurel has been volunteering with the Humane Society, and they are in desperate need of towels for the animals. 🐾

This year, she has graciously decided to dedicate her birthday to collecting towels to help!

After lashing over 10 years, here are a few things I do to stay as safe and healthy as possible:

✔️ I wear loupes to avoid neck pain, “forward neck”, and eye strain

✔️ I place my adhesive on my lash tray and avoid glue-rings to keep extra distance to avoid fume inhalation

✔️ Stretching, massages, acupuncture, exercise to keep my body working optimally

✔️ Run an air filter that filters VOCs

✔️ Lash in a ventilated room (I keep the door open as often as possible)

✔️ The bed is comfy and cozy and covered with a waterproof faux leather top that can be wiped with disinfectant after each appointment

✔️ I don’t use a lash pillow as I find most clients sit too low on it and cause me to over extend my neck

✔️ Use an ergonomic saddle stool

✔️ Wipe k***s and high touch areas with disinfectant as often as possible, preferably after each client. I've taken maybe 2 sick days in 15 years!

✔️ Cap my days for working a maximum of 6-7 hours and set prices to appropriately reflect my availability

✔️ Schedule a standing break for every work day

I think everyone should at least once, go and get a service from the person in your town that has the highest prices..

Make an appointment for a spa experience at a 5 star hotel...

After being treated a certain way, I strive to treat clients that way as well and they appreciate it.

There’s always lots for us to learn - especially in hospitality when most of us are doing things solo. That's why I include simple scripts and customer service strategies that work in my trainings and coaching.

If clients are leaving and choosing to do clusters at home, it's okay!

(By "okay" I actually mean that it's not too late to save your career.) 😭

Lash clusters are everything that professionally done lash extensions are not!

DIY lash clusters are...

❌ not comfortable
❌ not customizable
❌ difficult to clean (if not impossible)
❌ only last a week
❌ cost nearly as much as extensions (the premium, softer clusters anyway)
❌ not easy to put on
..and did I mention that you can FEEEL them? 😬

Sure, these can work great for some people.

The thing is though, clients that prefer lash extensions prefer them for a reason.
They have particualr expecations.

And you have to make sure that you're meeting their expectations.

Im honestly so sick and tired but also sad hearing how many of y’all are struggling to get and keep clients.

It takes lots of time and hands-on practice to learn how to do lash extensions well, but then you actually get to make money by making people feel beautiful!

I honestly think I hit the career jackpot.

I get to...

✅ meet phenomenal people
✅ make people feel more confident
✅ be artistic and customize the look for each person
✅ save people time and frustration in their daily lives
✅ hyperfocus on a creative activity
✅ and so much more!!

So no two days ever feel the same, plus I really feel like I'm making an impact.

And now that my books are always full and I have a waiting list, I get to fire the clients that aren't a good fit for my business culture. 😈

Honestly, aside from winning the lotto and peacefully retiring, what could be better?!

But, now that I think about it, I'd probably still be a lash artist to the amazing clients that I have! 🩶
