Thank you to everyone who shared feedback on my upcoming workshop for families caring for aging parents.

Your comments, messages, and suggestions were incredibly helpful. It confirmed something I’ve known for a long time—so many families are looking for guidance, clarity, and support as they navigate this season of life.

I’ve taken all of your feedback and have been working behind the scenes to create something I believe will make a real difference for adult children who are trying to do the best they can for their aging parents.

I’m excited to finally share what I came up with.

Stay tuned… details are coming soon. ❤️

I can’t wait to show you what we’ve created.

Family Friday Storytime

She Thought Mom Was Fine… Until the Fall

When "Sue" first called me, she told me her mom was doing okay.

Sure, Mom had slowed down a little. She occasionally forgot things and wasn't getting out as much as she used to, but she was still living independently and insisted she didn't need any help.

Then came the phone call every adult child dreads.

Mom had fallen.

Thankfully, she wasn't seriously injured, but the fall led to a hospital stay, and suddenly Sue was being asked questions she wasn't prepared to answer:

* Is Mom safe to return home?
* If not, where will she go?
* What would it cost, can she afford it?
* Who will help with meals and medications?
* I have to work. Who's going to take care of her if I can't?

What Sue realized was that the signs had been there all along. The fall wasn't the problem, it was the event that exposed the problem.

Together, we evaluated Mom's needs, explored care options, and created a plan before another crisis occurred.

One of the biggest mistakes families make is waiting for a crisis before they start planning.

If your parent is showing signs that they need more support, now is the time to start the conversation, not after a fall, hospitalization, or emergency.

💙 Have you ever had a moment that made you realize your parent needed more help than you thought? Share below. You never know who might benefit from hearing your story.

💡 Teaching Tuesday: Not All Home Care Agencies Are Created Equal

When a loved one needs help at home, many families call the first agency they find online.

Unfortunately, that's not always the best approach.
The quality of caregivers, communication, training, supervision, and responsiveness can vary significantly from one agency to another.

Before choosing a home care agency, here are some important questions to ask:

✅ How are caregivers screened and background checked?
✅ Are caregivers employees or independent contractors?
✅ What training do caregivers receive, especially for dementia care?
✅ How does the agency match caregivers with clients?
✅ What happens if the caregiver is sick or unavailable?
✅ Is there a nurse or care manager who supervises the care plan?
✅ How often does the agency check in with the client and family?
✅ What is the minimum number of hours required?
✅ Can care be increased quickly if needs change?
✅ How are concerns or complaints handled?

One of the biggest mistakes families make is focusing only on the hourly rate.

The least expensive option can sometimes become the most costly if there is poor communication, frequent caregiver turnover, or inadequate training.

The right caregiver can provide more than assistance with daily tasks—they can provide companionship, safety, peace of mind, and help your loved one remain independent longer.

👇 If you've used home care before, what advice would you give another family looking for help at home?

Or, if you're considering home care, what questions do you have?

I’ve had the privilege of helping seniors and their families navigate some of life’s most difficult decisions.

What I’ve learned is that so many women are carrying an incredible amount of responsibility.

They’re balancing careers/retirement, spouses, children/grandchildren, households, and at the same time trying to help aging parents navigate health challenges, memory loss, caregiving needs, and difficult care decisions.

It’s overwhelming.

That’s why I’ve created a new Facebook community for adult daughters navigating aging parents.

Now, before all the sons come after me…Yes, sons are absolutely welcome too! In fact, some of the most devoted caregivers I know are sons. But the reality is that the majority of the families I work with are daughters who often become the “default” caregiver, care coordinator, appointment scheduler, researcher, advocate, and problem solver for the family.

This group is for anyone helping an aging loved one, but if you’re an adult daughter carrying a lot of the responsibility, you’ll likely feel right at home here.

Inside the group, we’ll be talking about:
✔ Aging parent care planning
✔ Dementia and memory care
✔ Assisted living and care options
✔ Caregiver burnout prevention
✔ Hospital discharges
✔ Family dynamics
✔ Resources and benefits you may not know about
✔ Monthly expert guests and live trainings

My goal is to help families feel more informed, confident, and supported as they navigate this season of life.

If this sounds like you, or someone you know, I’d love to have you join us.

Truth or Myth Tuesday 🚨

MYTH: Medicare pays for long-term care.

TRUTH: Medicare may cover short-term rehab after a qualifying hospital stay, but it does not pay for ongoing assisted living, memory care, or long-term custodial care.

This misunderstanding catches many families off guard. Planning ahead can save stress, time, and money. ❤️

HALO Happenings 😇| June 2026

One of the things I love most about what I do is building connections and bringing people together.

This month, I’m looking forward to supporting organizations that are making a difference in our community while connecting with fellow professionals, business leaders, and advocates who share a heart for serving others.

Whether you’re in senior care, real estate, finance, faith-based business, or simply looking to expand your network, I’d love to see you at one of these events.

Take a look at this month’s calendar and let me know which event you’ll be attending!

✨ Fun Fact Friday ✨

Is this a 5-star restaurant? 🍽️

Nope… it’s an assisted living community!

One of the biggest myths I hear is that assisted living is sterile, institutional, and serves cafeteria-style food.

The reality? Many communities today offer beautiful restaurant-style dining rooms, chef-prepared meals, daily specials, and menus with multiple options. Residents can often order what they want, when they want it, and enjoy meals with friends in a welcoming atmosphere.

Of course, every community is different, which is why finding the right fit matters.

Today’s assisted living communities may look very different from what you’re imagining. Sometimes the biggest surprise families have after touring is saying, “Wow… I had no idea it was like this.”

Have you visited a senior living community lately? What surprised you?
