BABES 😂😭 Zachariah is officially entering his bookish era and I am HERE FOR IT.🤗 (if you’re on my threads you might have seen him request me take a picture of him holding my ARC copy of Storm Breaker and post it)

We did a little Sunday trip to Escondido Public Library and naturally… my child wanted pictures and to post them.😂 So of course I told him I got him. Swipe through because apparently I have a tiny bookstagrammer on my hands.🥹

BUT LET ME TELL Y’ALL ABOUT THESE TABS.💀😂

Zack asked if he could have some of my annotation tabs so I let him pick his color…yellow (obviously he’s mine as that is my fave color🫶🏾💛) and I cut off ONE little piece for him.

ONE.

He then looked at that tiny piece and said “Nah.” Because this child reached over and grabbed the entire big tab strip instead.💀😂

I was like “Hold up! You can’t annotate a LIBRARY BOOK the way you see me annotating my books.” And this little man goes “I know… I just want to use it as a bookmark.”😅 Okay, sir. 😂🤷🏽‍♀️

I love that he understands the difference between annotating your own books and respecting library books.🥹 And I love even MORE that he wants to use the same little bookish things he sees Mama using.🤗💛

And then there’s the last picture… because apparently while I was sitting there reading and waiting for him to go pick out his books this sneaky little dude grabbed my phone and took a picture of me WITHOUT ME KNOWING until he held the phone to my face for me to see it.😂 So obviously I had to include it….Because yes I went to the library with my kids… but let’s be honest…I was absolutely going to get some reading time in too.🤗

Sunday library trips + books + quality time with my kids = a pretty damn good Sunday.🥰

Babes... I don’t think I’ve ever read a romantasy where perfume became one of the most fascinating magic systems I’ve ever experienced. Not swords. Not dragons. Not elemental magic.
Perfume.

Viola can bottle emotions, memories, power, and even manipulate the mind through scent. Every perfume has a price. Every ingredient demands a sacrifice. Every fragrance tells a story.

Then there’s Hugh...
OH. MY. GOD. BABE.
If yearning were an Olympic sport this man would retire with gold medals around his neck.
He’s quiet. He’s devastatingly protective.

And don’t even get me started on the found family. 🥹
Watching Viola realize she deserved people who loved her not because they needed something from her but because she mattered might have been one of my favorite parts of the entire book.

The political intrigue kept me constantly questioning everyone and the murder mystery had me building conspiracy theories every few chapters but once the final quarter hit...I DID NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN.
Then Alexandra Bracken had the audacity...THE AUDACITY.....to end this book on that cliffhanger.😭💀

As a homeschool mom I’m constantly searching for books that don’t just entertain but spark curiosity. The stories that make you close the book and start searching the history behind it and wondering, “Wait... was that real?”👀

Steven McClellen blends real history with fantasy so seamlessly that I found myself wanting to learn more about Amazonian tribes, early expeditions, and the incredible biodiversity of the rainforest. That’s one of my favorite things a book can do…make learning feel like an adventure.🦜

Ramona is fifteen…stubborn while curious, courageous but refuses to give up on the person she loves most.
Her grandfather isn’t just family. He’s her home.
Books with grandfathers always get me.🥹

Ramona wasn’t the strongest person on the expedition. She wasn’t the oldest or the most experienced. But she had something just as powerful...
Hope.

The journey through the Amazon….I could feel the humid air (or maybe it was this San Diego crazy heat🥵🥵 lol) hear the wildlife hidden in the trees, and picture the endless maze of rivers.

Then there’s the Veil...Without spoiling anything I loved how the fantasy elements did not overshadow the heart of the story. Instead they added another layer of wonder to an already compelling adventure.

Magic wasn’t just there to be flashy. It served the story and it made the mystery more captivating. And that ending...
Let’s just say Steven had a surprise waiting that I didn’t see coming.

As someone who reads across every genre imaginable I can confidently say this is one of those YA fantasies that adults will absolutely enjoy too.🤌🏾🔥

As a homeschool mom this is exactly the type of book I’d happily recommend to my own kids. It opens the door to conversations about history, exploration, courage, family, and doing what’s right even when it’s incredibly difficult.

Reya is a legendary thief. A survivor. And….Stubborn enough to argue with death itself. 💀😂. Why I loved her so much is because she’s sarcastic, reckless, and fiercely loyal. But under all of that confidence she is a woman who’s spent her entire life believing she had to earn her worth through survival.

And then there’s Caelan…
BABES….here me out real quick🤗

If you love your men tall, cursed, morally good buuuuut😈…..willing to burn the entire world down for one woman…

Then congratulations babes👏🏾. You just found your next book boyfriend.😮‍💨

But it won’t be instant but Taylor makes us wait😩😩. Yet when their relationship finally begins to crack open it feels so earned and so freaking satisfying.🙌🏾 Their chemistry is built on trust, sacrifice, respect, and choosing each other over and over again.

So while the fight scene are so incredible, the magic is outlawed, there are thieves, pirates, deadly curses, revolutions, monsters, and political conspiracies. Sprinkled in with plot twists to keep your jaw permanently on the floor…..

Steelborn is really about identity.
It’s about learning that the worst things you’ve had to do to survive don’t define who you are.
It’s about realizing that your past doesn’t make you unworthy of love.
And maybe…
The pieces of yourself you’ve spent your whole life trying to hide are exactly what the world needs.

That message hit me so much harder than I expected. One quote completely shattered me…
“Perhaps the world just needs you exactly as you are.”

Yeah babes…Excuse me while I go cry again😭.

Now I desperately need Book Two because I HAVE QUESTIONS.

This is one of those books that reminds you why you fell in love with fantasy in the first place.

Esmer and Erebus’ was written in the shadows.

Babes... I am not ready to say goodbye to this world but if you thought Dream by the Shadows was incredible just wait until you read Cursed by the Dawn.

The story picks up immediately after the ending of book one. The Dream Realm became more hauntingly beautiful. Logan’s writing feels like you’re walking through a nightmare wrapped inside a fairytale. But let’s talk about the real reason I couldn’t put this book down...

✨ Erebus
This man is unapologetically obsessed with Esmer and I ate up every single second of it.😏🤌🏾🔥

The yearning finally blossoms into unwavering devotion. It makes every battle, every sacrifice, and every impossible decision hurt even more because you know exactly what they’re fighting for.

And Esmer...She fully embraces becoming a Shadow Weaver while carrying the weight of saving not just herself but entire realms. She’s strong without pretending she’s fearless. She questions herself. She struggles. She gets knocked down over and over again... but she keeps choosing hope.🥹 That’s what made me love her so freaking much.

BABES. I was not prepared. Without spoiling anything there were moments in this book where I had tears in my eyes because not everything is as black and white as it first appears. Logan does such a beautiful job showing that redemption, forgiveness and love aren’t always simple.

Noctis became home.
The Dream Realm became home.
Esmer and Erebus became characters I’ll never forget.

Please read this series.
You won’t regret it.
