You know that moment when you finally get 20 minutes for social media, sit down to post, and your brain just... empties?

Here’s the good news: you’ve got plenty of ideas. They just don’t tend to show up on command at the end of a long day. Brainstorming on the spot when you’re worn out is hard for anyone.

So try this instead. Don’t wait until you’re posting to think of what to say. Keep a running list. Open your Notes app and start an idea bank. Every time a client asks a good question, or you explain the same thing twice, or you notice something about how you work, jot down a line. A few seconds, no pressure to make it a real post yet.

Then when your 20 minutes comes around, you’re just picking something off the list instead of staring at a blank screen.

Give it a go today. What’s the first thing you’d add?

And if you’d like a guide to help you start creating posts for your business, we’re giving away a free Starter Kit to everyone who signs up. It’s got a ready-made idea bank and prompts that turn your client questions into posts. Grab it by registering for our free webinar on November 2. Link to register is in the comments.

Struggling to think of what to post? You’re already making content every day. You just call it client work.

Every question you answer and every piece of advice you repeat could be a post. Here’s a three-minute exercise to find your next ten:

1. Write down three questions your clients ask you again and again.
2. Pick one and answer it in plain English, the way you’d say it out loud.
3. That answer is your post. Tighten it, add a hook, and it’s ready.

The questions you’re tired of answering one-on-one are what your audience is searching for.

What’s one question your clients ask you all the time? Drop it below.

And if doing this consistently is the hard part, we’re hosting a free webinar on November 2 all about turning what you already know into content. Link to register is in the comments.

If a referral partner looked past your pitch and into your numbers, would they stake their reputation on sending you business?

Every referral carries the giver's name with it. The strongest ones go to businesses people trust to deliver, and your financial story is a large part of what signals you're one of them, usually before anyone asks out loud.

On October 19 I'm hosting a free webinar, Numbers That Build Trust, on the 3 financial signals referral partners actually read: whether your cash arrives steadily, how fast you can produce a current P&L, and whether you get healthier as you grow or just busier. You'll leave able to read your own numbers the way a partner would, and knowing which signal to tighten first.

Register for Numbers That Build Trust and you don't wait until the webinar to get value. The companion workbook comes right away.

The Financial Story Checkup is a short self-assessment, 15 quick checks that show an owner what a referral partner sees when they look at the business. Fill it out beforehand and you walk into the session already knowing where you stand, which means the live hour goes to fixing what it surfaced instead of covering theory.

Swipe through for a look inside. On October 19, Ina Masten hosts the session live.

Some of the things that cost a business referrals never show up in a pitch. They show up over time.

Vague answers about how business is going. Late payments that travel through a network. Pricing that shifts without explanation. Referral partners read these as signs a business isn't fully in control of its numbers, and they make people think twice before sending their best opportunities.

Most of it traces back to one fixable thing. On October 19, Ina Masten hosts Numbers That Build Trust, a free webinar on getting a clear read on the numbers partners are already watching.

Growth and profitability are not the same thing. A business can grow its revenue and still end up busier, more stretched, and no better off than before.

Referral partners want to send work to companies that strengthen as they scale, not ones that thin out under the weight of more. Healthy growth shows up in the margins, not just the top line.

If someone asked a business owner how last month went, how quickly could they answer with a real number?

The speed of that answer says a lot. When the books are current, an owner can respond with a figure instead of a guess, and that fluency signals a business in control of itself. When it takes a week to pull the numbers together, referral partners notice.

A profitable month isn't the same as a steady one. A business can finish in the black and still have scrambled through the month to get there.

Referral partners notice the difference, even without seeing the books. Steady cash reads as capacity, as a sign a business can take on more without straining. Erratic cash reads as risk.
