Only in San Diego can a “work day” look this different! ☀️🌴

From a day on the golf course with (Jesse) to triple monitors and getting things done with (Julia) residential house cleaners, to a glorious sunset over the water and cheering on our Padres while they were still in it to win it! ⚾️

Four of our BNI La Mesa members shared a little glimpse into their workdays, and we love how different they all look!

Our new Executive Leadership for 2026- 2027:
President, Danny Clem - Danny Clem
VP: CJ Granados - The Junk Medics

It takes a special kind of person to help keep 45+ business owners organized, accountable, and following the rules. It takes THREE people to corral ours. 😂

These three help guide our BNI La Mesa chapter and hold all of us accountable to the commitments we make as members. We have a Code of Ethics, an attendance policy, expectations around participation, and standards that help protect the trust we’ve built with one another.

And that accountability matters. When you’re referring your clients, friends, and family to another business owner, you want to know they’re going to be taken care of.

A strong networking group isn’t just about showing up and exchanging referrals. It’s about creating a room full of business owners who know what’s expected of them, show up for each other, and take the responsibility of being referred seriously.

Thankfully, these three are brave(and excited!) enough to help keep all 45+ of us in line. Thank you so much Danny, CJ, and Beth!!!

Remodeling project? We know someone. Restoration, roofing, painting, landscaping, solar, pest control, tree service, auto repair... chances are, we know someone. And more importantly, we know someone we feel comfortable putting our name behind.

For our trades members, that also means being surrounded by other professionals serving the same homeowners and businesses every day. One job can naturally create an opportunity for another member, and everyone wins when the client gets connected with someone they can trust.

That’s what makes BNI La Mesa different. We aren’t collecting business cards. We’re building a network of people we can confidently call when someone says, “Hey, do you know a good…?”

Frustrated with networking that goes nowhere? Because same. Especially for us introverts! That's why our meeting has this handout at BNI La Mesa, and there’s an entire second page because we have 45 members!

We don’t just show up, hand out business cards, and hope someone remembers us. Instead, every week, we come prepared with a specific referral ask, share what’s happening in our businesses, and learn how to recognize opportunities for each other.

We also have clear expectations around attendance, referrals, one-to-one meetings, visitors, and continuing education. Because if we’re going to put our name behind a referral, we need to actually know, trust, and understand the person we’re referring.

Every week at BNI La Mesa, we have a “word of the week” that everyone has to work into their 30-second commercial. It keeps our weekly pitches fun, a little unpredictable, and definitely gets some laughs around the room😂

This week, our word was “AMPLIFY,” and Genina, owner of Padilla Property Management Services, gave us her 30 seconds!

Genina offers full-service property management that can be customized around the needs of each property owner. Because owning an investment property sounds great until you’re dealing with tenant calls, maintenance issues, and problems that somehow always seem to happen on nights and weekends.

Her team handles the day-to-day details so property owners can get their time back while knowing someone is looking out for their investment. It’s a great way to amplify the benefits of owning an investment property without amplifying the amount of time you have to spend managing it.

And after hearing Genina talk about her business every week, our BNI La Mesa members know exactly who to think of when someone says, “I need a property manager, do you know one?”
