Our Story

G Power encompasses many things, but one important goal from the beginning was giving back to our community in a measurable and sustainable way. The latest brainchild from G Power serves that purpose quite well. Made from recycled juice containers and recycled plastic shopping bags, the G Power Doggy Baggie Dispenser (we call them “Units”) can be found in public areas around OB where dog p**p is an obvious problem. What we have found through years of testing is that with a Unit nearby, dog p**p-related problems decline dramatically. It is that simple, and the benefit is immediate and substantial: environmentally-unfriendly animal f***s are placed in the trash, rather than washed down storm drains; the plastic juice containers used for holding bags are recyclable both before and after using them as dispensers; ubiquitous plastic grocery bags are at least reused, rather than thrown in the trash directly, which is a positive beneficial reuse; and picking up your dog’s p**p shows respect for your neighbors and community. In short, the area looks cleaner and smells better, which makes people happier, and that makes our community a nicer place to live. It is so simple in theory, to hang a container with bags in it and expect everyone to use it. However, there’s much more to it in order for a Unit to succeed. First, it needs refilling constantly. Without bags it doesn’t work. Most Unit locations are checked daily. Once people learn baggies are reliably available, the Unit will see frequent use. Second, the bags are inserted in such a way that pulling out a bag completely leaves the next bag partially exposed – like a box of tissues. This ingenious method of insertion makes the whole idea work and makes every other home-crafted dispenser look like a kindergarten project. Recently G Power decided cigarette butt pollution in our community is a serious problem. To remedy that, we have installed a cigarette receptacle on the top of all G Power Doggy Baggie Dispensers. Just flip the lid, crush out the butt, snap the lid shut and be on your way. OB and G Power thank everyone who use this new feature and keep their butts off the ground.
