November 14th - on this day in 1969, NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration launched the Apollo Program's second mission to land on the Moon, Apollo 12.

Shortly after liftoff from the Cape's Launch Complex 39A, the Saturn V rocket, crewed by astronauts Pete Conrad, Richard Gordon, and Alan Bean, was struck by lightning twice. This didn't cause extensive damage but garbled the telemetry stream between the rocket and Mission Control.

Electrical, Environmental and Consumables Manager (EECOM) John Aaron saved the mission - which likely otherwise would have been cut short - through his legendary recommendation "Flight, try SCE to Aux", switching the Signal Conditioning Equipment (SCE) to auxiliary power.

Apollo 12 successfully landed on the Moon and the astronauts returned to Earth safely.

Today, the The Apollo 12 command module "Yankee Clipper" is on display at the Virginia Air & Space Science Center.

Rare rose Nautilus natural conch shell.

The chambered nautilus (Nautilus pompilius), also called the pearly nautilus, is the best-known species of nautilus. The shell, when cut away, reveals a lining of lustrous nacre and displays a nearly perfect equiangular spiral, although it is not a golden spiral. The shell exhibits countershading, being light on the bottom and dark on top. This is to help avoid predators, because when seen from above, it blends in with the darkness of the sea, and when seen from below, it blends in with the light coming from above.

Sometimes you want to "initially" inject mass-confusion into a room of brainstorming strangers in a team building exercise.

I think everyone needs a pat on the back right now as we approach years end. Everyone has been working double-time and beating our top-lines to bottom-lines like a dead horse. A small reminder to take care of ourselves and those who matter.... everyone deserves kindness these days even if it's just a "kind" word or small compliment. Don't forget to kindly take care of your staff with an extra envelope or weeks pay, in-the-least, in their Christmas check this year. It will come back tenfold if you treat them right.
