April is National Donate Life Month, and before it is officially over I want to share my son’s story.
My son died in a car accident on December 18, 2016. He was only 28. In the middle of the shock and heartbreak, one thing remained clear: he was a donor. Even though major organs couldn’t be recovered, he still gave everything he could: veins, arteries, tissue, his irises, and more.
Because of him, a young gymnast who was told she might never walk again is back on her feet.
Because of him, someone who lived in darkness can now see the world again.
His life ended far too soon, but his impact didn’t. He lives on in the people he helped, in their steps, their sight, their futures.
If you’ve ever wondered whether being a donor makes a difference, it does. My son proved that one “yes” can change lives.
Please consider registering as an organ and tissue donor. Your decision could be someone else’s miracle.
Hugs,
Carol
